Season 3 of the American fiction TV series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” premiered on ABC on September 29 and many are saying that the series should be called instead as “Marvel’s Inhumans” because the current season is centered on the superhumans called as Inhumans, which are superhuman characters with extraordinary powers.
The creation of the superhumans is due to Terrigen, a material that creates them when it was released into the ocean during the Season 2 finale, details Vox.
The season premiere of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” actually lived up to the hype as it focused on Joe, who showed his power to melt metal with his bare hands.
While the new characters present the potential for new superhero with amazing abilities, it also presented the possibility of new super villains to bring on the devastation especially if the Terrigen gets into humans that have the wrong sense of values.
A mysterious villain
One of the mysterious villains that were shown during the first episode of Season 3 of the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is Lash.
Lash looks like a cross between a porcupine, one of Avatar’s Na’vi, and a professional wrestler. He came out looking for the Inhuman before zapping a hole in the chest of a security guard. Subsequently, several more Inhumans got into his way and got waylaid in the process.
It was not clear what the mysterious villain wants, or his motivation to look for Inhumans and his story. While he seems to be very powerful, the extent of his power remains a mystery.
Although the villain has not yet been identified in the TV series, he has already been described in the Marvel comic books as Lash, an Inhuman villain with a ruthless mentality and merciless too.
Based on the Marvel comic books, the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will have a tough time battling against Lash, who thinks he is a judge, a jury, and executioner.
Searching for more superhumans
In the premiere episode titled “Laws of Nature,” Director Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, and Agent Daisy Johnson, played by Chloe Bennet, took the lead as the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. searched the world for more superhumans in the aftermath of their epic battle with Jiaying and her army of Inhumans, details the Den of Geek.
Eventually, they found out that they are not the only group looking for the powered people. The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also came face to face with another organization searching for Inhumans.
Season 3 of the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” also featured the return of the core cast. Fan favorite character Agent Alphonso ‘Mack’ MacKenzie, played by Henry Simmons, is now a series regular. He was hardly around in Season 2, but fans are now assured that he will be present in practically every episode of Season 3.
Season 3 will also see more of Luke Mitchell as the energy wielding Inhuman known as Lincoln Campbell.
Executive producer and head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said in a statement that Luke proved a valuable addition to the cast of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” in Season 2 and after seeing the actor light up the screen with his charisma, they decided to have him back for more.
Loeb said that the writers have come up with big plans for the character of Lincoln Campbell in Season 3, but fans would really be happy with what the producers and writers have in store for them.
S.H.I.E.L.D., which means Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, is a fictional peacekeeping and spy agency in a world populated by superheroes and numerous supernatural phenomena.
