Season 3 of the American fiction drama TV series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is still on its hiatus and will return to ABC for its midseason premiere on March 8 with its 11th episode aptly titled “Bouncing Back.”
Based on the promo for the popular TV series released by ABC recently, the return of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” on the small screen will usher some new faces as well as familiar ones.
The teasers of the show revealed that Daisy, played by Chloe Bennet, and her team of Inhumans will get to meet more Inhumans both in episode 11 and in the subsequent episodes of Season 3 of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
The introduction of more Inhumans to the TV series seems aligned with the storylines coming up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as there is a film titled “Inhumans” due to hit theaters in 2019.
However, the third season of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” also presented the so-called secret warriors, the new Inhuman characters partially inspired by the comic of the same name.
Based on the episode synopsis of “Bouncing Back,” Daisy and the team shall encounter more Inhumans who have powers that they have never seen before. The big question is whether this new Inhumans are enemies or friends of S.H.I.E.L.D., wonders the International Business Times of India.
As they are no longer able to keep powered people out of the public eye, Daisy and Mack press forward to find more Inhumans, building a team of secret warriors whose mission is to train and protect powered people.
But the growing presence of Inhumans proves to be a polarizing issue and the S.H.I.E.L.D. team must face conflicting public opinions and defend their team from groups who have a more extreme ideology. The divide between those who want to protect Inhumans and those who seek to destroy them is constantly widening and Hydra, now strengthened by Grant Ward, looms once again.
Making the connection to ‘Captain America: Civil War’
While every Marvel fan knows that connection of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems that the second half of the TV series will also feature the direct link between the show and the upcoming Marvel movie, “Captain America: Civil War.”
S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, explained during the first half of Season 3 of the TV series that the secret warriors might connect with “Captain America: Civil War.”
Gregg said that with the Inhuman outbreak, there are people with powers suddenly all over the place and there are those who feel that people who evolve differently need to be eradicated. There are also those who remember that those people are also humans and there are divisions among those people, points out Screen Rant.
Basically, that is the premise of Civil War and Gregg seems to have alluded its connection to the next major Marvel movie due to hit theaters on May 6.
The latest trailer of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” also featured Coulson interacting with the US President played by William Sadler, who also portrayed the same role in “Iron Man 3.”
The debut of Slingshot
Fans and viewers of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” are also looking forward to seeing Elena Rodriguez, also known as Slingshot, who has been reported to make her debut in the second half of Season 3.
Natalia Cordova-Buckley will join the cast of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and take on the role of Slingshot. The Inhuman has the ability of super speed. Her power, however, has a limitation. She can only use her super power in certain areas.
The entry of Slingshot will surely provide a fresh angle and subplot to “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
Episode 11 of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will also see Coulson in the aftermath of his trip to Maveth getting more determined than ever to get Gideon Malick and put an end to Hydra once and for all.
