When someone mentions the eighth season of American Idol, a few names may pop up in your head but then when there’re mentions of “Ghost Town”, it becomes clear as the water which we are talking about. Yes, we are talking about the American singer and songwriter and the runner-up of the eight season of American Idol, Adam Lambert.
The fans at Israel of the imminent classic rockers Queen have been patiently anticipated their presence since the last two decades and were finally able to see a live performance and all thanks to Adam Lambert. They finally did their Tel Aviv concert on September 12, 2016, and the audience was nothing but ecstatic and excited.
It has always been praised how the band never gave up on their journey and kept up even as a two piece with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor before they finally included Adam as their lead vocalist. Although it is never possible to physically replace Freddie Mercury, Lambert has done a pretty great job portraying and holding up a Freddie-like demeanour on-stage.
Being the first openly gay artist who hit No. 1 on the US charts, it is a lot on his shoulders filling into such big shoes yet trying and being himself. Lambert’s outfit on the day of the concert with his skin-tight leather getup along with his Robocop shades has been something that has made the fans swoon over him.
Anyone who has heard the songs from the albums of Queen is very well accustomed to the touch of glam rock and 80’s swagger. And being in Israel after all the fans awaiting their presence for around 40 years, it was a lot of tension upon Lambert’s shoulder.
Each and every moment of the concert was someone so “out of the world” and ecstatic, every fan present in the area humming to the similar lyrics of “Seven Seas of Rhye”, “Fat Bottom Girls” and even “Don’t stop me now”.
Lambert’s flamboyance and movements making every fan’s breath hitch while he swayed to the beats, revelling in the passion that his singing brought him.
The moment Lambert finally took to exchange a few words with the crowd, being the charmer that he is, spoke in the name language greeting the crowd with a “good evening”. He also took some time out to pay some homage to the person that is a huge and pivotal part of their entire experience, Freddie Mercury.
Lambert showed his gratitude and paid special tribute to Freddie saying that the world has been lucky enough to have embraced someone so talented like him and that there is ever going to be only one Freddie. While the crowd did feel the absence of the writer of Bohemian Rhapsody, May and Taylor dedicated some of their songs to their long lost friend and band mate.
Flowing confetti and after a beautiful encore with “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions”, Lambert pushed himself out in the crowd, connecting spiritually with the audience, forming an impeccable chemistry. The concert ended with David Bowie’s “Hero” playing in the background.
With every bit of their passion put together, waiting 40 years seemed worth it with the amazing concert that Lambert and his band mates, May and Taylor put on. The fans walked out of the venue with their heart’s content and smile on their faces.
While every fan was happy and walked out content, Lambert took to this to take a quick trip to the beautiful place around. He shared some pictures on his Instagram from his short recreational trip which included bit places of Jerusalem and even a few moments of prayer at the Western Hall. He even visited the Entrance to Jesus’ Tomb.
