Adam Lambert and Queen Interested in Headlining Glastonbury Festival Next Year!

Adam Lambert and Queen were supposed to perform in the Glastonbury Festival early this year but due to their hectic schedules, particularly of the former, they were not able to do so.

Now, rumors are swirling around that Adam Lambert and Queen may, in fact, become the next headliners for the 2016 Glastonbury Festival, whose tickets were already sold out as of early this month, notes the Independent of UK.

When recently asked for confirmation about the rumors, Lambert said that he was not actually aware of the speculations, but he would really love the band to headline the Worthy Farm bash, which others call as the best festival in the world.

The “American Idol” alum said that he does not care actually about the rumors because it was the first time that he heard of it. But if the organizers invited him and the Queen, they would really perform.

Music festival’s possible headliners

So far, what has been confirmed for the Pyramid stage of Glastonbury in 2016 are the participation of Coldplay, Adele, and Foo Fighters.

There are also reports that the Blur and AC/DC are likely to join in. In addition to Queen, there are also other rock bands that have made it to the rumor mill as headlining the 2016 Glastonbury Festival including the stadium rockers, Muse.

Having Adam Lambert and the Queen at the gig would surely give fans another reason to get excited about the festival and they are hoping that the organizers push the invite soon to the group.

Early this year, Brian May, guitarist of the Queen, said that they would have wanted to perform at the 2015 Glastonbury Festival but Adam Lambert’s schedule was too hectic and that prevented them from topping the bill of this year’s event.

He said in a past interview that such things get put out on the table, but it would really be interesting to do Glastonbury if Queen was an operational unit at that time.

May said that at the time of the event early this year, Adam Lambert was off doing his solo work so it was not just possible for them to do the 2015 Glastonbury Festival. He added that they only consider things that are possible logistically.

An avid fan of Queen

Adam Lambert has been a long-time fan of the Queen so performing as its lead vocalist must have felt surreal for the pop singer.

Indicative of how solid he is as a fan of the iconic rock band, when he auditioned for “American Idol” back in 2008, he actually used Queen’s difficult-to-sing classic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” cites Billboard.

In fact, it was actually the reason why the surviving members of Queen asked him to step in eventually as their new lead singer. Lambert accepted it and he has stuck with the group for two well-received world tours.

Recently, British comedian Alan Carr and Adam Lambert recreated Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” music video using two of each of them to fill out the musical quartet.

Carr proudly showed the music video on his show “Chatty Man” where he was seen really looking ridiculous wearing a wig while Lambert appears to be really pumped up and having the time of his life doing it.

Adam Lambert has been fronting for the iconic rock band Queen for quite some time now and just before the group’s ‘Rock in Rio’ performance in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, recently, he and bandmates Brian May and Roger Taylor took part in the event’s press conference.

As he has had the opportunity to share the stage with Adam Lambert and former Queen vocalist, the late Freddie Mercury, Brian May was asked to compare the two lead singers for the rock group.
