Adam Lambert Agrees to Lead Oreo’s New Ad Campaign Because of its Great Message of Acceptance!

“American Idol” alum Adam Lambert now has a TV commercial and it’s no other than Oreo chocolate cookie. The TV commercial started airing on January 18 and is part of the “Open Up with Oreo” ad campaign, reports Billboard.

According to the report, it has been the dream and fantasy of Adam Lambert to record a song for a TV commercial and he finally achieved it with Oreo.

Given his stature in the international music industry, Adam Lambert is not the type of artist who will grab onto an offer immediately after it is presented to him.

Apparently, the ad campaign’s great message of acceptance ultimately attracted him to the project.

In an interview, Lambert said that the mission statement of Oreo’s ad campaign itself spoke to him because it is encouraging people to look at their similarities with one another as opposed to finding their differences.

He said that the campaign’s motto towards that end is similar and in line with one of his key philosophies in life.

A simple premise

“Open Up with Oreo” campaign has a simple and powerful premise. Like the Oreo cookie, it tells people who are different to focus on their similarities with others instead of their differences.

The first two animated spots with lyrics, written by The Martin Agency, debuted on the small screen on January 18.

Lambert says that he thinks the music of the ad is great and sounded like signature him. He said that he got to go into the studio and suggest how he wanted it recorded.

He adds that it was very collaborative and a really sweet idea because everyone loves Oreo cookies.

Lambert also admits to being a dunker when it comes to eating Oreos. He said that he is a whole dunker actually and in a rebel way at that. He said that he loves the idea of opening the cookie up and trying new things.

Oreo’s animated spot titled “Rolling Wonder’ debuted on January 18 with a theme of embracing child-like wonder that is a natural progression of last year’s “Play with Oreo” campaign, notes the Agency Spy.

The open up line in the context communicates multiple meanings to the viewers, as a girl is shown opening up an Oreo while also implying being open to new people and experiences.

The cookie company then launched a second video from digital agency 360i which is titled “Introducing the Oreo Wonder Vault” which announces the return of the brand’s Red Velvet flavor and a new arrival Cinnamon Bun while hinting that new flavors are still on the way.

With the Oreo TV commercial, Lambert has officially joined the growing list of artists appearing in cookie campaigns including Kacey Musgraves, Owl City, Tegan, and Sara and Chiddy Bang.

The commercial will be aired in more than 50 countries worldwide during the first half of 2016 and will also include a global TV spot, digital content, and sweepstakes.

Highest-earning ‘American Idol’ alum

As the highest-earning “American Idol” alum last year, it is safe to say that Adam Lambert is also the most successful in the lot, despite not winning the Season 8 competition aired from January to May 2009.

Forbes has just come out with the list of the earnings of “American Idol” alum and Adam Lambert has topped the list with his staggering $10 million paycheck in 2015.

Carrie Underwood, the “American Idol” Season 4 winner, held the No. 1 spot for the last two years and has slipped to No. 2 with her respectable $8 million earnings.

The third spot went to Season 5 winner Chris Daughtry after recording $6 million in earnings from his 91 concert shows during the year.

The fourth spot belongs to Season 11 winner Philip Phillips who made $5 million primarily because of his last record “Behind the Light” that was released in 2014.
