Brown is also elated that the two TV series have been received critically and popularly the way that they have, adding that he already feels like a broken record on saying that he is really blessed
Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, he said that he was an athlete, a big football player and he loved it.
He explained that the highs that he would feel on the field were like nothing he had ever had before.
On his freshman year of high school, he auditioned for the Troubadour’s musical production of “Godspell.” He said that freshman normally didn’t make it into the show, so there was a part of him being competitive so he proved everyone wrong.
His best friend wanted to do it and he wanted to do it too because he thought it would be fun. They wound up getting in the musical and both had a great time.
He narrated that all three nights of the show, they get standing ovations. On Saturday night, in particular, the play ends where they were carrying Jesus Christ out off of the cross and they sing the song “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” and as they were carrying him out through the audience, the crowd stands up before the show is even over and they just start applauding, a memory he would cherish for the rest of his life.
