“Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” is the fourth and final installment to the very successful “Uncharted” video game franchise. With the end of an era, the actor behind Nathan Drake, the main protagonist of the game, talked about his experience in playing the lead role for the popular video game franchise and his future plans.
Nolan North is known to be a very approachable actor. In a recent interview by Nathan Ditum of the Telegraph, North shared about the ups and downs of his personal adventure as Nathan Drake. It was not the first time that Ditum interviewed North so he was expecting the voice actr to be his jolly self. However, it was a different North that faced the reporter that day.
Some 23 minutes into their conversation, North shared his reflection about the fact that “Uncharted 4” will be his last Nathan Drake project after 10 years. He said he just got into bed one night then realized he was getting old. He remembered how many people he has encountered because of Nathan Drake and thought that their connections are coming to a close. He admitted it was a little bit daunting.
The interviewer was surprised by his confession as North appears to be far from his usual self. Nonetheless, it all boils down to that simple basic question of what does he intends to do after “Uncharted 4?”
Being an actor means one has to face uncertainties and instability. An actor does not really have any control on a character’s lifeline—how long will he be shooting Nathan Drake; will he be working next year; or will he have a new project after “Uncharted 4?”
North is a great voice actor and is also an actor on TV and motion pictures. He first worked with Naughty Dog on the “Uncharted” series. As Nathan Drake, he would always wear tight spandex suits that tracks live body movements which will be translated by the animation team to fit the character in the game. Aside from being Nathan Drake, he is also working on the popular TV series “Pretty Little Liars.” He said he is flexible in transitioning into different kinds of media.
In their interview, he was finally asked about his plans after “Uncharted 4.” North happily answered the difficult question and said he would like to do more TV and film projects.
He would also like to go and do more voice acting on video games and motion captures. At the same time, he wanted to have enough time for himself to enjoy the luxury of golf and to watch his kids play soccer.
