Abigail Spencer to Star in Two Simultaneous TV Series with the Kickoff of the Fourth and Final Season of ‘Rectify’ Next Week, More Details!

Abigail Spencer is a celebrity who is regarded more as a TV fixture, having chalked up a number of guesting stints in plenty of TV series over the years. But she has already broke ground on the big screens not too long ago.

Her latest stints include appearances in the American anthology crime drama TV series “True Detective” on HBO, and the American period drama TV series “Mad Men” on AMC. She also appeared in the very popular American legal drama TV series “Suits” on the USA Network a few seasons ago.

However, her career-defining moment came when she was given the role of Amantha Holden on Sundance’s first scripted series “Rectify.”

Despite being critically-acclaimed, “Rectify” is not as commercially successful and also not huge in the rating game so it is going to air its fourth and final season beginning on October 26.

However, weeks before the Season 4 premiere of “Rectify,” Abigail Spencer has once again taken on the lead role for the time-travel drama TV series “Timeless” on NBC that debuted late in September.

“Timeless” is being regarded by critics as an ambitious new project. But more than anything else, the airing of “Rectify” Season 4 starting next week will only mean that Abigail Spencer will be the female lead star in two simultaneous TV series, which is quite a historic first in her career.

An excellent taste in roles

Despite appearing in tons of TV series already, Abigail Spencer is still being commended for her excellent taste in roles that she picked for herself in many shows on the small screen, reports A.V. Club.

But she is proudest of all with her Amantha Holden role in “Rectify.” She explained that it is actually the tastemakers on the TV industry that have inspired and gave them the energy to do wonderful and interesting stuff in “Rectify.”

She said that after her stint with “Mad Men,” it contributed to changing her life because it opened herself to doing more films.

However, when “Rectify” came along, she found something that she can’t say no to. But she was telling everybody before that if she is going to do something on TV, she wants it to be a regular thing for at least seven years.

She said she wanted to feel again the great experience she had with “Mad Men” or maybe greater. “Rectify” lived up to her hopes even though it did not last seven years as she hoped it would.

Abigail Spencer considers her stint with “Rectify” as a truly challenging yet magical experience that she would cherish in her lifetime.

While “Rectify” is an emotionally-wrenching TV series, “Timeless” is somewhat fun and Spencer says that she needs fun now so it is also exciting her equally.

A lot of traveling

In its first three weeks of airing on NBC, the debut season of “Timeless” has traveled to the site of the Hindenburg disaster in the 1930s, the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in 1865, and the Rat Pack era of the 1960s that took a detour into the dangers of atomic weaponry.

In its upcoming episode, the show travels to Nazi Germany, where the gang, including Abigail Spencer, will meet spy and James Bond author Ian Fleming.

Each of the episodes of “Timeless” features specific events from American history or are well-known time periods with direct relationships to it.

But compared to the rest of the world, the US is an incredibly young country, with only a couple hundred years of official history to explore.

Everyone knows that history didn’t start with the birth of the United States. Prior to World War II, the country was merely considered a great power, at par with the United Kingdom or what was then the Soviet Union. Today, the country is the only remaining true superpower in the world, details TV Guide.
