One of the busiest actresses on TV these days, Abigail Spencer, looks to American-British actress Julianne Moore as her screen and life idol.
She publicly announced how she idolizes Moore when she posted on her Twitter account her greeting during the 55th birthday of the veteran actress on December 3.
While Abigail Spencer did not disclose why she considers Julianne Moore as her screen and life idol, the veteran actress has been very prolific in the movies since the 1990s. She is particularly known for her portrayals of emotionally troubled women, in both art house and Hollywood films, and has received many accolades including the Academy Awards for Best Actress.
It appears that Abigail is following the footsteps of Julianne in terms of being a prolific actress, though on the small screen for now, and also for taking on roles of emotionally troubled women, the way she is currently doing on her two main TV series, “True Detective,” and “Rectify.”
Part of Top 10 best TV shows of 2015
Abigail Spencer is also very proud for being part of American drama TV series “Rectify,” which according to one internet news site, is one of the top 10 best TV shows of 2015. She proudly posted the news on her Twitter account.
Abigail has all the right reasons to be proud as “Rectify” has already been renewed by Sundance for its fourth season next year, amid its insanely low ratings.
Notwithstanding its performance during its first two seasons, Season 3 of “Rectify” actually got ratings that most networks would not dare keep a TV show on the air with. It was averaging only 160,000 viewers per episode. Networks are cancelling TV series left and right if the shows don’t have 1.5 million viewers or more but “Rectify” is standing still and tall.
In fact, the “Minority Report” TV series on Fox, which has 2.45 million viewers on its last episode, is reportedly on its way to being cancelled already so it is just absurd to see “Rectify” still holding firm. No wonder the show’s actors, including Abigail Spencer, are proud of the show, not for its poor ratings but how some critics think that it is a good TV series more than anything else.
High on a lot of incredibly worthy things
“Rectify” also happens to be Sundance TV’s first wholly-owned scripted series so the TV show is basically a network pride. Besides, as a sister company of AMC, which is packing it in the ratings game on cable television with its “The Walking Dead” series, Sundance no longer needs to compete for ratings and money.
While it is true that “Rectify” may be low in terms of number of viewers, but the TV series is definitely high on a lot of incredibly worthy things including beauty, wonder, and humanity.
There is no other TV series that provides a truer reflection of human life and all its subtleties today. Some critics believe that watching “Rectify” is a singular experience because it makes viewers laugh, cry, and most importantly, care, which no other show on television today does.
The writing and the actor’s accompanying performances are crisp as they capture the nuances and complexities of life better than anything else in the small screen today. “Rectify” is just one of the bright spots of television and critics hope that more of the same type of TV show will come out soon instead of being drowned on commercial success with barely any form of meaning or significance to one’s life.
Abigail Spencer plays the character of Amantha Holden, younger sister of protagonist Daniel Holden, played by Aden Young.
