‘Battlefield Hardline’ May Not Have a 1080p Resolution as Promised

“Battlefield Hardline” the first-person shooter video game due for release on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 on March 17, 2015 may not have the 1080p resolution when it officially rolls out next month.

An open beta version of “Battlefield Hardline” is now running live on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One showing that the game is having a 900p and 720p resolutions respectively, similar to “Battlefield 4,” reports Full-Time Whistle.

While the final game has yet to be released, many gamers have the opinion that the 900p and 720p resolutions on the beta version would most likely be the respective resolution on the full version.

Visceral Games, the developer of “Battlefield Hardline,” has yet to confirm or deny the speculations that the video game will not have a 1080p resolution as promised earlier to gamers by Electronic Arts, the game’s publisher.

Different resolutions

When Visceral Games unveiled “Battlefield 4” on the next-gen gaming consoles, it had a 900p resolution on the PlayStation 4 and was only hitting 720p on the Xbox One.

The differing resolutions naturally spawned controversies but Visceral still did not commit whether the game would eventually hit a 1080p resolution.

That leaves the question hanging among gamers and that is bad news for Visceral who is collaborating with EA Digital Illusions CE for “Battlefield Hardline.” Just like the “Battlefield” video game series, “Battlefield Hardline” is being published by Electronic Arts.

The only thing that was made certain by Visceral Games is that it would be aiming for a frame rate of 60fps throughout the game.

Playing it safe

Visceral Games has been playing it very safe as far as details of the resolution of “Battlefield Hardline” are concerned. It has actually warned PC gamers with rigs regarding the game’s minimum system requirements.

The developer cautioned that the beta version of the game may not run very well on low-end machines or the earlier versions of the PC.

Sources at Visceral said that the running of the beta version at 900p on the PS4 and 720p on the Xbox One may actually be a choice by the game developer because the Frostbite Engine needed to run the beta, is quite stable with such resolutions on the gaming console platforms.

The same sources said that Visceral is continuously working at optimizing the resolution of “Battlefield Hardline” for PS4 and Xbox One so that it may eventually hit 1080p when it is officially launched in March.

battlefield hardline

Anything less than 1080p should be a disappointment among fans and gamers notwithstanding the manner by which EA gave “Battlefield Hardline” all the hype and the hoopla including its new features and video capabilities.

In addition to the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC, “Battlefield Hardline” shall also be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 17th.
