While many Android smartphones and tablets are still awaiting up to this time the coming out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop, almost three months after Google officially rolled it out in the international tech industry, its major update is already waiting on the wings and will be coming out before February draws to a close.
Before it rolled out its latest mobile operating system in November 12, 2014, Google has touted that the Lollipop is to be its greatest Android version.
But with a major systems update coming just a little over three months after the supposed greatest Android version rolled out, it seems that the ‘greatest’ hype was a dude. It fizzled out before it can fully take off.
It was obvious from the start that the Android 5.0 Lollipop has had numerous bugs and issues so the excitement it generated prior to its launching was equally similar to the disappointments and frustration it got from Android mobile device users after they started encountering rough sailing on some devices.
Plagued by problems
When Google’s greatest Android version was officially unveiled in November last year, it came first to several Nexus and Motorola devices.
Nexus is Google so it was understood why it has to be among the first Android devices to get the latest mobile operating system. Motorola on the other hand, relied purely on its smarts, to make sure that it also gets to be among the first to take in the new Android mobile operating system.
But as it turned out, they were also the first to experience the bugs and problems that came with Google’s greatest Android version.
In addition to minute operational bugs, there have been major issues including apps crashing, rapid draining of the battery, problematic Wi-Fi connectivity, and excessive consumption of network devices.
While Google has eventually released two patches or minor updates, through the Android 5.0.1 and the Android 5.0.2 one after the other in November and December respectively, there are still issues that remain to be addressed, thus the coming out of the Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Greatest update to the greatest Android version?
Because Android 5.1 Lollipop is coming as the major system update to Android 5.0 Lollipop, some experts are insinuating that it may very well be considered as the greatest update to the greatest version of the Android.
Google has since been keeping its mouth shut on the latest update lest it gets burned again the way it did with the over-eager hype on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
There are no more promises or hype this time saying that Android 5.1 Lollipop would be the next greatest version of the Android or words to that effect.
Google has obviously learned its lesson in the art of marketing and promotions. The company has realized the fact that it should perfect its product first before rolling it out to the market and allot it with the right amount of hype and promotional mileage, and not so much the way it did for Android 5.0 Lollipop.
