Leaks in the tech world can come from all kinds of places, and sometimes even people working for government agencies can’t resist the urge to share what they’ve seen about gadgets that interest them. Samsung’s Galaxy S6 is one of the hottest smartphones right now, as the device is being anticipated very eagerly by many people in the tech world – but at the same time, Samsung are being very secretive about it, and aren’t sharing many official details about the device. Not even the specifications are known at this point, although there is certainly no shortage of rumors that claim to reveal what the device will offer.
Just recently, we’ve seen a supposed leak from an import agency, which describes two phones that have been shipped for testing, with the model number SM-G920A. Among the interesting notes in the report, the device is said to have a 5 inch display, making it a slight downgrade from the Galaxy S5, the first time in the history of the line that this has happened, if the rumor is true. Of course, Samsung are known for always trying out new angles in the development of their products, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they’ve decided to try a smaller screen size to see how it fares on the market.
At the same time, the device will reportedly have a Quad HD resolution on that screen, so calling it a downgrade is a bit subjective. Price was listed as $405, although it’s not clear how close this would be to the actual market price – it could just be a factory value or something like that, considering the device is being shipped and described for testing purposes.
On the inside, it could have an 8-core processor, 3 GB of RAM, and a 20 megapixel camera with extra features on the software side that are rumored to make it one of the best offers as far as smartphone cameras go. And on the outside, buyers will find a metal frame, and a slick design that hasn’t changed too drastically from the previous style of the line, although it does look a bit refreshed to match current trends.
It’s expected that Samsung are going to launch the phone around the beginning of March, at MWC in Barcelona. But just like the device’s specifications, this is just a rumor at this point, and it’s not known if Samsung are actually planning to make the big announcement then. The phone has been awaited for a long time by the company’s fans though, so they’re likely getting close to the point where they will show it to the world.
