iPhone 7 Rumored to Ship with 2 GB of RAM, Apple to Use Samsung Processor? And More

The latest rumors about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 seem to bring a few interesting new details about the device to the table. First, it’s rumored that Apple are going to push the phone’s specifications quite far, with a powerful processor, lots of RAM, and a good GPU – but what’s more interesting about those specifications is the fact that the processor will be reportedly manufactured by Samsung.

According to the recent rumors, the phone is coming with 2 GB of RAM, and the choice for a processor manufacturer could actually make a lot of sense if the company wants to easily keep up in terms of hardware, while focusing most of their development efforts on improving their own design and the software capabilities of the iPhone.

However, there are also strange parts of those rumors, which may or may not make sense given current market trends. It seems that Apple may want to break their style of releasing a new iPhone every year, as the company is now shifting to a more prolonged development cycle. If the rumors are true, the iPhone 7 may not even land on the market in 2015 – Apple are reportedly aiming for 2016 for the device’s release, and they’re trying to make it a significantly more competitive offer.

The company does seem to be trying to decouple their releases in general. It used to be the case that they would make all of their major announcements at the same time, but now they’re not only spreading their releases more apart, they’re also separating them in different periods of the year. The Apple Watch, for example, is going to be launched on its own schedule, even though many were expecting the company to release the device along with the iPhone 7.

So, what are Apple planning for 2015? The Apple Watch could be a major enough release on its own, but is it really going to be enough to keep Apple’s fans happy for an entire year? There have been rumors that a smaller iPhone 6 could come out during 2015, which could make sense if they’re going to push the iPhone 7 back to 2016. This would still keep the company’s fans entertained, while it will give the company more time to polish the iPhone 7, and incorporate some more user feedback into the new device after they see how people receive the new iPhone 6. If the rumors about the new device are even true, of course – it hasn’t been confirmed by Apple at this point, so it’s not known if the company really is working on an “iPhone 6 mini”, as some publications have dubbed it.
