The dependable work suite that is the Microsoft Office has finally arrived on the Android mobile devices beginning January 29, after years of clamor and wait from Android device users.
The Microsoft Office pack of work applications is now available for downloading at the Google Play Store, cites Yahoo! News from an AFP report.
But unlike the Microsoft Office’s availability on Apple devices including smartphones and iPads, only Android mobile devices with 7-inch display screens or larger can make use of the Microsoft Office apps. The device should also have at least the Android 4.4 KitKat for a mobile operating system and at least 1GB of RAM to ensure that the Office applications work properly.
The Microsoft Office apps are free. The Android user just needs a Microsoft account and once signed in, he can be able to edit and save documents or other key Office applications like the Excel and the Power Point.
Gold standard in work applications
Despite the emergence of many apps and mobile devices which have revolutionize how today’s generation of individuals work and play, Microsoft Office remains the gold standard when it comes to productivity applications.
Apple has already made available the Microsoft Office to iPhone and iPad users for almost a year already but it is only now that it shall be coming to the Android mobile devices.
But instead of the usual Microsoft Office pack where each applications will become available once the complete suite is downloaded and installed, Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point for Android tablets are being made available in the Google Play Store as individual apps so there would be three different Microsoft icons on the screen once all the downloads are complete.
Premium features
Android users will also get premium features if they have a Microsoft Office 365 subscription including apps for syncing documents across devices, among other special features.
But for the productivity-focused Android user, the Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point would be more than enough as basic apps. For Android users with mobile devices or tablets that have a screen display of 10 inches or more, operating these apps would require subscription to Microsoft Office 365.
It’s ideal for home or business, from desktop to the internet, and the devices in between because Microsoft Office 365 delivers the tools to get work done.
So for those people who are always on the go and on the web most of the time, they can also access Office Online wherever they have the Office 365 installed on their Android devices.
Users can also create documents with trustworthy office applications and save them on an online drive, or edit and collaborate with others in real time using Office Online.
