Jennifer Lawrence has managed to gain a lot of popularity through her career, especially recently with her performance in “Hunger Games”. And while some publications have been recently praising the actress for her “curves”, not everyone seems to agree with those views. Ashley Graham, a well-known model on the “plus-sized” scene, has recently come out with a statement against Hollywood and the media glorifying the appearance of Lawrence as what a curvy woman should look like.
Graham went on to say that Lawrence was actually “tiny” in comparison to a true plus-sized woman, and should not be taken as a representation of a full-figured woman in any way. While of course body image is a very subjective matter and it’s difficult to say whether or not Ashley Graham has any valid point in this argument, it’s also true that her own body is of a very different type than Lawrence’s.
Ashley Graham is well-known not just for her modelling, but for her attitude towards female body image in general. She has been working hard to promote different ideas of a healthy body image to young girls all over the world, and she has been very active in her campaigns to spread the idea that a full body doesn’t equal a bad looking one. This has been a hot topic in the media recently in general, as there has been more and more focus on portraying this body type in a positive light, and people like Graham have been doing quite a lot of work in this direction.
It should also be noted that Ashley Graham didn’t actually say anything negative about Jennifer Lawrence in those statements. For all it’s worth, Lawrence herself wasn’t the one who described her body as “curvy”, this image was attributed to her by the media, so it doesn’t seem like Ashley Graham has anything against the actress in particular. Still, her statements against those portraying her body as curvy seemed to be a bit harsh, and have been the subject of a lot of discussion recently.

The actress currently seems to have a lot going on in her professional life, as rumors are going around that she might be being considered for a role in “Frozen 2”. If that turns out to be true, Lawrence probably has a lot more on her mind than the issue of her body image that some publications have been trying to fabricate, and it’s understandable why she hasn’t made any comments on the situation at all, and why she likely won’t in the near future either.
