Expendables 4 was confirmed back in March of last year and that was right after Pierce Brosnan said that he would be happy to star in future Expendable sequels. The producer of the action packed movies said that not only can fans expect to see the fourth movie in the series this year, they can expect to see a fifth as well. The movies are a little bit over the top with action, but what has gotten more attention is the list of actors that have signed on.
The fourth installment to the Expendables will see Brosnan for sure and Stallone mentioned that he wanted to use Dwayne Johnson as the villain in the movie. That was mentioned in an interview last year after Stallone said Jack Nicholas. According to a tweet from Hulk Hogan, he also said that he would be in the movie. The movie will have actors that are used to action, which includes Jean-Claude Van Damme, according to reports.
With the cast changing so much during the last three movies, what you read online can be considered rumor until Stallone, or producer Avi Lerner confirm it. In recent news, it was mentioned that Jackie Chan might even make an appearance. Stallone said that he “always wanted to work with Jackie”, but arrangements were unable to be made during the first three. The “Rambo” star is hoping that will change with the fourth movie.
Jackie Chan said that he was approached for the number two and three in the series, but turned down the offers, because of the screen time. Chan reportedly wanted the two movies to be just Stallone and him, rather than all of the guys and Chan coming in for 5 or 10 minutes of the movie. Now that Chan has seen the success of the series, maybe that has changed his tune a little. According to one online source, Stallone is looking to reduce the cast so that the screen time for each is a little more.
With that being said, it seemed that Chan made a point with Stallone and he might be listening to him. It looks like it will come down to whether or not Chan gets a bigger role or not. He certainly made it clear that he does not want to come out and do a five minute fight scene and that is it. With all of the different action style actors that have appeared in the show, it is surprising the Chan has taken this long to possibly become a part of the popular movie franchise.
