When leaks about an upcoming device start flowing like it’s from a faucet with a loose thread, it only means that the wait is about to end and the much-awaited device will soon be seeing the light of day.
It seems to indicate that way with the upcoming 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display as the latest round of leaks about Apple’s latest laptop is too revealing, it looks as if the device is already out in the market.
Several leaked photos of the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display have already made the rounds in various tech sites that physically compare the device to the current 13-inch MacBook Air and the iPad Air 2, in terms of size, thickness, and the appearance of the Apple logo on the cover of the laptop, details the Business Insider.
Because these leaked images are not just photos of the device all by its lonesome and has somebody’s hand holding it and comparing with two other Apple devices, it is clear that the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display is already a complete device and no longer in the so-called ‘in-development phase.’
A different logo for an Apple laptop
No, the new 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display is not about to change the Apple logo. It’s been an institutional logo for far too long to change and there’s no way a new and an upcoming device can drastically come up with a new design. It’s bad for the brand and that is so not Apple.
However, what is glaringly different from the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display is the way the logo has been imprinted on the cover of the new laptop. It is no longer the white logo imprinted on the cover of the laptop typical with MacBooks but a silvery color image similar or very much the same that is found on the back of the iPad Air and the iPad Air 2.
There are reports that the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display could be ushering the new way the logo on future Apple laptops would be imprinted on the devices. It’s not so much of a big deal really as it has nothing to do with the operational features and capability of the device, but it would still be a distinguishing mark if the report proved to be true eventually.
Thickness and possible release date
The leaked images of the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display also showed the level of thickness of the device compared to iPad Air 2. When compared to the tablet, the lid of the upcoming Apple laptop is just thicker by a few millimetres.
It has been reported that the display screen of the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display will be similar to the display of the 11-inch MacBook Air but the screen will have thinner bezels to accommodate the larger display.
Apple has yet to make an official announcement to confirm or deny any of this leaked information on the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display.
Over the past few days, it has been reported that Apple may do a product launching in March this year but it seems that the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display is not part of the event just yet. Well, not unless Apple decides to pull a big surprise by unveiling it in March too.
