Rockstar are one of the few studios in the industry that can realistically handle multiple projects simultaneously, and if rumors about “GTA 6” are true, they seem to be going with full speed ahead in this style. The company is reportedly working on the next installment in their famous franchise while at the same time trying to sort out every important detail with the multiplayer of “GTA 5” – no small feat by itself. The fifth “GTA” title got some negative reviews due to issues with its multiplayer, but Rockstar have been putting a lot of effort to release the online portion of the game in its full recently.
Many fans seem to be fine with the wait anyway, and would rather wait a few more weeks and get a truly polished online experience, than get a rushed release full of bugs and balance issues. The main portion of the multiplayer is out anyway, so once “Heists” are implemented, the game will be as good as done.
Where does that leave “GTA 6” in that case? The fate of the game is currently not very clear, as Rockstar are apparently in very early stages of its development. The studio is actually still at the drawing board in some regards – for example, they haven’t decided the location of the game yet. There are multiple possibilities for that, and it seems like Rockstar are trying to really think outside the box and create a unique, memorable experience that will captivate players. There are certainly many places where “GTA” can go that could all work well, and it’s also not out of the question to try out a made-up location, instead of the proposed real-life cities like Chicago.
On the other hand, cities like Portland have been getting mentioned a lot, and many fans are speculating that Rockstar are actually considering that particular city for the next “GTA”, due to its overall geography and the arrangement of its streets. It’s hard to say whether those speculations have any merit, although Rockstar have certainly always been trying to make the environments in “GTA” as interesting and diverse as possible, so Portland would not be a bad choice.
Other than that, it’s pretty much guaranteed that the game is going to be a next-gen title, considering the timeframe for its release, so it should introduce some interesting changes to the “GTA” gameplay, making full use of modern hardware. More advanced physics would always be nice for a game like this, but of course, considering what a major part immersion plays in the overall feeling of “GTA”, it would also be good to see some noticeably improved graphics.
