Actress Lindsay Lohan is reportedly not doing very well when she was hospitalized for a virus from a mosquito bite that caused her to experience severe pain in the joints and high fever.
Lindsay got the Chikungunya virus while she was vacationing in Bora Bora island in the French Polynesia just recently.
Initial prognosis by doctors in after checking herself in at the King Edward VII’s Hospital in London on January 20 was not promising as the virus is said to be untreatable as of this time.
Lohan complained of worsening symptoms as a result of the virus including severe joint pains, high fever, vomiting among others that contributed to her deteriorating health condition, reports Yahoo! News.
The Chikungunya virus is normally characterized by the sudden onset of fever that usually lasts up to seven days and joint pains lasting for weeks or months, or even years. The virus is brought about by certain mosquitoes found in tropical countries. It has a mortality rate of less than one for every 1,000 persons infected by the disease.
Worried sick of her daughter
With the failing health condition of Lindsay, her mother Dina became worried sick of her daughter’s well being that she asked the actress to stay with her in Long Island, New York as she recuperates from her ailment.
Lindsay is currently based in London and obeying her mother would mean that she would travel from the UK to the US while still suffering from the symptoms of Chikungunya.
Typical with a concerned and doting mother, Dina does not want to take chances with the health condition of Lindsay.
Since Chikungunya is untreatable anyway and the only way to survive its symptoms is to go through it while maintaining body fluids and blood platelet count within safe level, Lindsay’s mother is suggesting the right thing when she offered to look after and monitor her daughter.
A source close to Lindsay’s concerned mother said that Dina wants Lindsay to come home after she is discharged from the hospital in London. She is extremely worried for Lindsay and has strongly suggested that her daughter come back to live with her temporarily or until such time her symptoms from Chikungunya wears off.
Unable to walk
There were also reports that Lindsay could not walk because of unbearable joint pains. While it was also reported that the “Mean Girls” star remains positive that she can get through the disease, her conditions has not been showing the same positivity.
A source close to the actress said that Lindsay is also starting to get depressed because she has already started putting her life back together again and all of a sudden Chikungunya struck her and her efforts down.
She feels scared with her medical condition but she is not losing hope that she would eventually recover from it.
On January 22, she was already released from the London hospital but she was said to be receiving continued treatment and monitoring from a private physician.
