There are so many great young athlete’s that get into a sport with high hopes of becoming the next highest paid athlete. That trail is a tough one to take and in order to get through high school, college and into the pros, the odds are stacked against everyone that chooses that road. For some athletes, getting through school on a sports scholarship is not that difficult, but what about the ones that want to wait and finish their degree?
There are not that many college football players that get to the big game during their junior year and decide to go back to school rather than join the NFL draft. Players that know they will be drafted and might have even talked to a couple of teams already, decide to throw it away and finish college. What is wrong with that choice? In recent news, Cardale Jones was been taking his bumps as he gets asked the same question over and over again.
The media, fans and just the entire internet in general want to know how a person with a great future in the NFL could just decide to wait one more year. The decision is easy according to Cardale Jones and after talking with his family, friends and coaching staff, he has decided to “return next year for school”. He could have gone to the NFL draft and been picked very high according to some experts, but has decided that is not what he was doing, right now.
Cardale Jones has always said that one of the most important things for him, and his family, was to make sure that he graduates college. He stated during a press conference recently that when he makes the choice to “play in the NFL” that he wants to be “done with school”. Graduating from college is a very tough thing to do when you are dealing with a high end college football program as well. Many will commend his choice while others will cry in their beer he will not be in the NFL next season.
Cardale Jones has been thrown into the spotlight because two months ago there were very people that even knew who he was. He has three college starts as a quarterback and those brought the team through the Big Ten title game, the Sugar Bowl and the National Championship that was played on Monday night. His mentor and high school football coach is proud that he has not taken his decision lightly and is making the right choice to be a great role model for young athletes all over the country.
