Different Islamic militant groups across the Middle East region have enjoyed receiving financial support from the Qatar government over the past few years. Qatar is currently looking to fortify its influence in the region, and the Qatari government has decided to fund Islamic militant groups in the hope of managing the political scenes in Arab nations.
Reports published by local and regional institutions suggest that the Qatar government has donated some $1 billion dollars to Islamic militant groups based out of Syria in order to topple the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
At the same time, Iranian politicians believe that the Qatari government had initially supported ISIS, a radical Islamic militant group.
Iranian MP Mohammad Reza Bahari believes that the Arab nations should pay extra attention to the current conditions of the region. “Unfortunately, the Middle Eastern governments do not understand the real danger of these extremist militant groups. These groups have gained power following the civil unrest in Syria,”
“A number of Arab states including Saudi Arabia and Qatar have blindly started supporting these groups. Apparently they have stopped donating money to these organizations, but these groups are now taking advantage of their stable revenue sources. Having said that they are more likely to continue carrying out attacks against civilians in future,” Bahari said on Monday.
President Bashar al-Assad is infamous for suppressing peaceful demonstrations in 2011. Over the past three years, the peaceful protests have turned into a massive civil war which has claimed the lives of more than 200,000 people. Millions of people have lost their homes and jobs.
“In my opinion, all the regional and international organizations should start supporting the Assad government. I think he can resolve the problems peacefully, and the people of Syria can enjoy having a stable country.” MP Mohammad Reza Bahari added.
Iran is said to be one of the most important allies of Syria.
