The long-promised Heists DLC for the multiplayer game “Grand Theft Auto Online” is about to roll out before the end of the month for the next-generation gaming consoles but interest on a new character named ‘Jeff’ on the upcoming content has been drawing a lot of attention.
Jeff’s growing popularity among GTA gamers stems from the fact that there is a character of the same name in the single-player “GTA 5” mode.
The trailer of the Heists DLC also shows a gameplay character named Jeff but YouTuber DomisLive, also known among GTA gamers as Dom, believes that the two Jeffs are different.
The Heists DLC Jeff is the Heist contact and ring leader and aged about 25 to 35 years old.
The Jeff on the “GTA 5” single player story mode is older and he is a close friend of main game character Dom Beasley and Franklin Clinton. He is also a helicopter pilot and owns a website that shows extreme sports and parachute diving videos, details the UK edition of the International Business Times.
There is actually a scene in the “GTA 5” single-player story mode where Jeff and Dom go to Mount Chiliad and record their sky-diving stunts, before posting the video on the website.
Distinguishing the two Jeffs
In distinguishing the Jeff from the “GTA 5” single-player mode and the Jeff from the Heists DLC in “GTA Online,” Dom points out that the “GTA Online’ multiplayer story mode takes place six months before the “GTA 5” single-player story mode.
For those who are thinking and justifying that the two Jeffs are the same, Dom pointed out that Jeff would have been a Heists ring leader for six months before becoming a helicopter pilot and recording the video of Dom and Franklin skydiving from the chopper and selling those videos on the website.
Dom said that it is quite illogical that a character could change a profile so drastically in the game within a span of just six months. Thus, Dom concluded that the Jeff in the Heists DLC showed in the trailer as the Heists contact is different from the one on the “GTA 5” single-player mode and that the two have no relation at all.
The YouTuber even backed his theory of two different Jeffs by showing that the Jeff in the “GTA 5” single-player story mode, based on the wiki page, indicate that he was born from Australia, while the Jeff shown in the Heists DLC trailer looks very much an American.
Regardless whether the two Jeffs are different or not, gamers are already brewing with all kinds of excitement for the upcoming Heists DLC that has long been promised to them by developer Rockstar when the game was launched in November 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
