If you have been following Motorola over the last 10 years, things might seem a little weird. The company was bought by Google, which really just wanted the patents, then sold to Lenovo a few years later. As soon as the last sale was final, many fans of the new Moto smartphones on the market assumed that Lenovo would dismantle the company and take from it what it seemed as useful. Fast forward to 2014 and the released of a couple of different smartphones on the Motorola line and it would seem that presumption is wrong about Lenvovo.
The release of the first Moto X was a hit and the second generation of the device was just as popular. The phone sports a great lineup of hardware and software, plus it is first in line for Android updates because Google is good like that. The Moto phones come with touch screen displays that have great resolution, awesome cameras on the back side and super fast processors.
The Moto G was the first phone the company released that was off contract, very affordable and came with a quad-core processor that can run circles around other phones in the same mid-level category. Even though the display is a little smaller and the 5MP camera is a smaller version, the Moto G was very popular and sold very quickly. In some cases you could not get your hands on the device for weeks at a time.
With that being said, the rumors are pointing to a new phone for the Moto line. The Motorola Moto E2 is expected to be released at some point this year, but for now, the only information that we have to tell is considered rumor and not confirmed by any real source that knows about the phone. The Motorola Moto E2 could be coming, but some sources claim that it is too early for an update from the origian Moto E. The second generation Moto G was brought to the market just six months after it was originally released, so you never know.
The Motorola Moto E2 could see some improvements, but most are not expecting a major overhaul at this point. One rumor suggests that the Motorola Moto E2 is going to come with a 64-bit build, which is the new standard, a Snapdragon 410 processor and the Android 5.0 Lollipop software pre-installed on the device. According to information from the FCC, the Motorola Moto E2 will include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS support, but nothing for those that were hoping for 4G connectivity.
