Apple’s Next Flagship Smartphone: iPhone 6S or iPhone 7

Now that 2015 is upon us, everyone is already looking towards the direction of Apple, with regards in particular to when will the American tech giant launch its latest flagship smartphone.

Or if it does, what shall it call it this time? Would it be the iPhone 6S that was rumored as early as December last year? Or would Apple go for iPhone 7?

The PC Advisor thinks that it will actually depend on when would Apple officially roll out its new flagship smartphone.

The company launched the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014 so if Apple would be rolling out its latest flagship smartphone this September 2015, then it is likely that it would be an iPhone 7. Perhaps it would come with an iPhone 7 Plus or an iPhone 7S too.

But if Apple would be scheduling a smartphone launching earlier than September 2015, then it is likely to be an iPhone 6S which would just be a variation of the iPhone 6. Based on Apple’s history, ‘S’ models have designs that are almost identical to the previous iPhone’s design.

All these information are mere speculations at the moment pending an official announcement from Apple that would either confirm or deny all of these.

Rumored designs and features

Banking largely on Apple’s history, the iPhone 7 will likely sport a 4.7-inch touch screen smartphone, a rounded aluminum chassis, and should also be thinner than an iPhone 6 or just about as thin. Some reports hint that Apple’s next flagship smartphone shall feature a 5-inch OLED display with an extremely high resolution of 400 ppi.

Should Apple decide to pair it with an iPhone 7 Plus, then the second and larger phone would most likely feature a 5.5-inch touch screen display.

It is also likely that the upcoming Apple flagships would be available in silver, gold and space grey.

With the availability of the stronger sapphire glass and more durable liquid metal materials, the iPhone 7 could also come out even lighter than the iPhone 6.

What’s under the hood

In terms of what’s under the proverbial hood, the iPhone 7 shall also feature a faster processor in the mold of an A9, which is reportedly manufactured by Samsung, plus an M9 co-processor.

The A9 processor is touted to be using a 14-nanometer process which would make the chip even smaller yet more efficient and more powerful.

Interestingly, the iPhone 7 will also feature a battery with a longer life and shall also bring about new features including wireless charging.

The biggest improvement for the iPhone 7 could be its camera. As early as November 2014, there were already rumors that Apple will use a two-lens system that could capture DSLR-quality imagery with a 21-megapixel resolution.

Again, until Apple makes the official confirmation, all these information are mere speculations at this point in time.
