2015 Toyota Hilux or Chevrolet Colorado: Does Toyota’s Broader Design Make for a Better Offer

Toyota have been doing a lot to improve the Hilux lately, and the results are immediately obvious with one glance at the 2015 model. The company is not only bringing the model into the future in terms of specifications and raw power, but they also seem quite intent on making it a more popular model with a broader market appeal than its predecessors. And it’s certainly true that previous entries in the Hilux line have had a particular look about them that was only favored in certain market – but the newest installment seems to be a direct attempt to change that.

One big question that both critics and truck enthusiasts have been asking recently is whether the new Toyota Hilux can measure up to the Chevy Colorado, or if buyers are better off sticking with Chevrolet’s offers. It’s obvious that Toyota are attacking this market segment quite aggressively, and the company also seems to realize that they have to get through Chevrolet as one of their major competitors if they want to achieve any success, but how well does their offer compare to what Chevrolet are giving right now?

In terms of specifications, it’s actually not that easy to pick a winner, although Toyota do seem to have a very good offer with the Hilux; its several variants include a 2.5 liter engine, as well as 3-liter and 4-liter models, making it a very versatile model that should easily be able to handle any kinds of conditions that the driver might throw at it. On the other hand, Chevrolet have pretty similar specifications in their own design, so buyers who’re purely interested in good power would probably find this a tough decision.

As we said above, the appearance of the new Toyota Hilux is also something to be noted, as the model looks significantly better than previous entries in the line, and Toyota’s attempts to reach a wider market are obvious. Whether the changes will be to everyone’s liking is difficult to say, and it’s certainly a radical new appearance that some of the older fans of the brand might not find too likable. The added use of gadgets should certainly be welcomed by everyone, on the other hand.

But at the same time, it’s a good sign that Toyota still “have it”, they still know exactly what their customers are looking for and how to deliver adequate changes to their models. At this point, all the company has to do is listen closely to customer feedback in the coming months, determine which of the changes they’ve introduced in the Hilux are being received well, and plan their next model with the market fully in mind.
