While “Frozen 2” has not been announced yet, and it looks like it’s going to be a while before Disney are ready to drop the big news, this has done nothing to prevent fans from discussing the numerous possibilities for the sequel to one of the most iconic animated films of recent times. There is certainly a lot that can potentially happen in the new installment, and Disney are also known for enjoying the occasional risk, when it could mean advancing a production in a significant way – so what could the studio do in “Frozen 2” to get the strongest reaction out of their fans?
One of the most prominent theories that have been going around is the possibility that a new sister would be introduced to the story. While a new character is pretty much guaranteed to happen, as the story would be too stale with just the existing ones, Disney haven’t directly hinted at the possibility that said new character could be directly related to Elsa and Anna. And of course, if a new princess does get introduced to the story, it’s obvious that she’ll be given a major role in the plot, although it’s not clear what exactly that could be.
Something else that fans have been speculating on, is the possibility that Disney could make the story a bit darker and more thought-provoking than the previous film. Of course, “Frozen” was still a kids’ movie in the end, and it would be a bit too much for the studio to give it a completely “dark” theme, but on the other hand, they could easily expand its reach in new directions that give it a slightly more serious tone. Plus, fans of the original “Frozen” would have grown up a little by the time the new film comes out, so it makes sense that the storyline would be adapted a bit more to their new interests as well.
The overall setting of the new film could also be noticeably different than what was shown in “Frozen”, if some of the more popular fan theories turn out to be true. Disney could bring a more powerful storm to the table, or perhaps even more unusual, completely new elements to give the characters even more challenges to overcome.
Whatever ends up happening, one thing seems to be clear from most fan speculations – most people want to see Disney exploring slightly more serious, darker themes with the new film, and they would like to see the characters overcoming even more difficulty in “Frozen 2”. Whether Disney could pull this off in a way that still pleases the fans, it remains to be seen – though it’s not clear when exactly.
