“House of Cards” just got a brand new trailer for its third season, in which a new character was teased – and it doesn’t take a lot of effort to recognize the original inspiration for it, as both his looks and his personality seem very reminiscent of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He seems to be quite the dark character as well, and his dialog in the new trailer seems to be teasing at some dramatic events coming up in the new season.
Other scenes shown in the trailer seem to be hinting at a possible romantic triangle involving Claire and the Russian President (named Petrov in the series), although it’s not made clear if this is a genuine twist or just another plot by Claire and Frank themselves. In addition, the trailer is showing a much more dire situation for the couple, not like what they were dealing with before – and it’s likely that the new season will pit them against a much more challenging series of events.
It makes sense too, as the two are now at the top of their game, and are an attractive target for many of their opponents. But while it was expected that the producers are going to introduce more adversity into the mix, the number of new enemies that will join the “fun” seems quite staggering. It’s also hinted that Frank and Claire are about to run into some difficulties in their own relationship, which has been coming for a long time now, according to some fans of the show. The two have gone through quite a lot, but their newfound dangerous position might be the true test of their relationship and love for each other.
Some of the characters introduced in season 2 are set to come back in the new episodes, including Remy Danton, Seth Grayson and the fan-favorite Gavin Orsay who will reprise his role as a computer specialist. There is about a month and a half left until the season airs, and the producers will likely tease a little more about what fans can expect to see, as is their style.
Season 3 will be released on Netflix on February 27, and all episodes will be made available simultaneously, something which has been becoming a popular trend recently with the growth of Netflix. Many fans of the show have been praising it for this model, as it’s not only better for viewers excited to see the story continue, but it also allows the producers to better gauge viewer reactions to each episode for a sufficiently long period of time before starting to develop the next one, something which has been contributing to the overall quality level of the show significantly.
