GTA 5 Online Heists Are Almost Here, According to Rockstar, Update 1.17 Contains Hints!

There has been a lot of talk about heists ever since “GTA 5” came out, as the feature didn’t make it into the initial launch, but has been hyped quite a lot by Rockstar, leading to an understandable build-up of excitement among fans. And while the studio is yet to release the long-awaited DLC that will introduce heists to the game, there have been reports recently that the feature might be closer than most are expecting.

When the 1.17 update rolled out, observant gamers were quick to notice some hints left throughout the source code that were pointing towards the existence of heists as a gameplay feature. While it’s possible that Rockstar could have just forgotten to remove the references before pushing out the update, it could also be an indication that the update is about to be released, and 1.17 was an early precursor to it, introducing new subtle features in the backend to prepare the game for the launch of the actual update.

It’s worth noting that the source code references were for a DLC titled “Test DLC” and not “Heists”, but considering that Rockstar haven’t announced any other major DLC for the game so far, it’s pretty obvious what the reference was about.

Meanwhile, Rockstar have spoken up about the new content, and have set the official release date for the game’s PC version for March 24. In addition, the company has stated that heists are also coming in early 2015, with an added apology for the delay. According to their official statements, the delay was mostly caused by a shift in focus, as the studio was trying to wrap up the PC version more quickly. However, as the statement reads, the wait will definitely be well worth it, as the new version is going to be even more exciting than what fans have been seeing on the console editions so far.

GTA 5 Online Heists DLC

Along with everything else, the PC version of “GTA 5” will also see the first release of the Rockstar Editor, which will allow players to easily create and publish videos from their gameplay straight to their YouTube accounts, or to Social Club if they prefer the service. The new toolset will also reportedly have quite the extensive set of editing tools to give players full control over their flicks, and is expected to make some serious changes to the overall state of community content published for the game online. With the addition of heists as well, the months following March should see plenty of interesting content posted to YouTube, showing off the game’s new features and its glorious graphics on the most powerful PCs that can handle it properly.
