Now it can be told. Apparently, Apple has been having difficulty finalizing the release date for its latest line of MacBook Air called the MacBook Air with Retina display because the American tech giant is also busy developing and finetuning a groundbreaking laptop.
While Apple is not part of the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 in Las Vegas, the event has nonetheless given the company the opportunity to give Mac enthusiasts a glimpse of its 12-inch MacBook Air through the so-called leaks, intentional or otherwise of course.
Latest leaked images of the device indicate that the laptop features an ultra-thin and narrower body than that of its 11-inch predecessor. In fact, the device is so thin that Apple had to do away with the typical, full-size USB port and come up with a specialized port called USB Type C for an I/O terminal, according to a report by 9to5mac.
Although it is smaller, a USB Type C connector is faster and more capable than the standard USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports on current desktops, laptops and notebooks.
The same images also show that the new laptop will only have two ports– the USB Type C port on the right side and a headphone jack on the left.
There are also reports going around that the 12-inch MacBook Air operates so smooth and quiet that Apple employees are actually referring to it as the “MacBook Stealth.”
Mid-2015 release
Apple has not made any official announcement about the product itself or its release date but rumors are now going around that a mid-2015 release is likely, which would be around June.
It is not clear though whether the 12-inch MacBook Air will be launch before or after the MacBook Air with Retina display. Any which way Apple chooses to release its groundbreaking laptop, it is expected roll nicely into a good reception.
The 12-inch laptop will reportedly feature a high-resolution screen display and may in fact be using the Retina technology too, which could make it officially part of Apple’s upcoming line of MacBook Air with Retina display, reports India Today Tech.
The laptop shall also feature an edge-to-edge keyboard with narrower keys. Reports also have it that Apple has already removed the click buttons in the trackpad to really make the device thinner.
Tapscape cites that Apple has been working on the 12-inch MacBook Air since October 2013. The company was not able to launch the product during its back-to-back launching events in September and October last year so the device is really due this year.
Powerful too
Despite being compact, Apple did not sacrifice the hardware quality of the 12-inch MacBook Air for its thickness. Its computing operations will be powered by Intel’s M series processors, the latest from Intel.
Apple’s 12-inch MacBook Pro was regarded as the best ever laptop of the company thus far and it seems that the purpose of having the 12-inch MacBook Air is for the previous device to finally turn over the reputation to a deserving newcomer.
