The new upcoming game mode known as ‘Winter Showdown’ will possibly be a rather conventional part of World of Tanks. All you need to do is place your tanks on the snow, and you are ready to roll. It does justice to a perfect showdown event in the winter.
However, there is a certain twist in this upcoming gameplay for World of Tanks. If you are expecting a snow covered, blizzard-stricken Eastern-front category tank-battle, you will find it quite different as the new gameplay features an 8-bit mode.
This online vehicle battle game is taking a look back in 2015 with a completely new 8-bit overhaul of the original title. However, keep in mind that the upcoming ‘Winter Showdown’ won’t include 8-bit in everything, but will provide a well-defined retro look. It seems that World of Tanks developers have taken cue from the distinct esthetic feature of Minecraft. Recently, a trailer was revealed which makes the game look further wintry. However, an experienced gamer will immediately figure out the similarity with Minecraft.
The result is the transformation of a military-themed shooter into a fun and colorful, blocky shooter. The matches are all set to take place in different areas and are seasonally justified with their covering of snow. However, ‘Winter Showdown’ is a lot more than just being an 8-bit blocky shooter. The brand new gameplay comes with mega-platoons that have a five player capacity rather than just 3. Two new gameplay modes will be introduced, the two-on-two mega platoon battles along with the 10-vs-10 random battles.
As a result, the visuals might be taken down a notch but gameplay has been sufficiently upgraded. Other than the new game modes, a newly added weapon produces shells that can damage enemies and heal allies at the same time. The players will also be able to shoot through the brick-laden environments for making new pathways on the battlefield.
With the latest add-ons, a group of new tanks will also be included in the game. These include the close-quarter specialist Mammoth heavy tank, the agile Arctic Fox light tank and the long range Polar Bear tank destroyer.
Gamers will witness a new Battle Arena, an Operation Winter medal. It will focus more on the old-school category Multiplayer gameplay where players can heal allies with special gold ammo. As of now, World of Tanks is one of the most successful free-to-play games to be ever released. It has 75-million registered users from all over the world. The game also holds the Guinness World Record of most players being simultaneously online.
The new game mode will be a welcome to players who are bored with the usual realistic 20th-century approach. Winter Showdown for World of Tanks releases on 26th January, except Korea to enjoy an earlier 16th Jan launch.
