‘James Bond 24’ Release Date, Cast & Plot: ‘Spectre’ Gets Artist to Sing Movie’s Theme!

The 24th film in the James Bond movie franchise, titled “Spectre” already has an artist to sing the movie’s theme. And it is going to be Sam Smith.

Smith beat other noteworthy music artist contenders in the person of Adele and Rihanna. Adele sang the theme for “Skyfall,” the 23rd James Bond film shown in 2012.

Other music artists who were considered to sing the theme song of “Spectre” were Ed Sheeran, Lana Del Ray, One Direction, Ellie Goulding, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Florence and the Machine, Lady Gaga, and Tom Jones, discloses Christian Today.

“Spectre” will hit theaters on November 6, 2015.

James Bond 24 has been affected by the recent cyber attack on Sony where the hackers apparently stole an e-mail conversation among the company’s top executives talking about the less-than-satisfactory third act of the film.

But the cyber assault did not prevent the film production to proceed with the laying down of the groundwork for the filming of the movie starting early 2015 and getting the right artist to sing the movie’s theme.

One of the key hallmarks of a James Bond film after all is its unique theme song, a number of which have made it to the top of the Billboard singles charts in the past.

‘Skyfall’ casts returning

Apart from Daniel Craig, who will play James Bond for the fourth time in a row, much of the cast from the previous Bond movie “Skyfall” will be returning to “Spectre” including director Sam Mendes, according to a report by Screen Rant.

Those returning with Craig for “Spectre” are Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomi Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q, and Rory Kinnear as Tanner.

Joining them are Christoph Waltz, who shall play Oberhauser, the movie’s main villain, Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann, Monica Belluci as Lucia Sciarra, Andrew Scott as Denbigh, and Jesper Christensen as Mr. White.

Because of the movie’s title, “Spectre,” which was part of a long legal plagiarism battle between Eon film producer Kevin McClory and Albert Brocolli that finally ended in settlement in 2014, there were speculations that Waltz would actually play the role of Ernst Stavro Blofeld from the previous Bond films.

That rumor was eventually quashed when the movie’s official Twitter page posted recently that Waltz would play the role of Oberhauser.

While there is no official storyline yet to the movie, Craig hinted that “Spectre” will have an avenging 007 in it just like in “Quantum of Solace” and the old-school Bond playfulness, last seen in “Casino Royale.”

With the $1 billion worldwide gross of “Skyfall” in 2012, it would also help the production if the 24th James Bond movie simply sustains the momentum in building and establishing Agent 007 as an enduring pop culture icon.
