The continuous influx of leaked images and specifications on the Samsung Galaxy S6, the upcoming flagship smartphone of the Korean tech giant, highly indicate that the device is indeed getting close to its release date.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 was released into the global market on April 11, 2014, about a month and a half from the time it was officially unveiled during the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain on February 24, 2014.
Thus, it is likely that Samsung may officially announce the Samsung Galaxy S6 anytime during the first quarter of 2015, and subsequently release it a few weeks thereafter.
Latest leak
Latest leaked images of Samsung Galaxy S6 from an Iranian website called Toranji feature the upcoming flagship smartphone in three different color versions already in operation, reports Phone Arena.
And the images also show that the phones are already running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and very typically, Samsung, including the stylish wallpaper design and the large physical home key up front.
There are also a couple of new elements found in the new leaked images, the most striking of which is the aluminum metal design of the frame, carrying the Samsung branding both in the front and back.
Also noticeable is the central rear camera placement and heart rate sensors which are quite similar to their corresponding locations in the Samsung Galaxy S5, notes Yahoo! Tech from a BGR report.
The metal body actually confirms an earlier leaked image showing a Samsung Galaxy S6 with an all-aluminum unibody and a colorful plastic front, which many Samsung fans consider as a welcome change from the rather uninspiring plastic case of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
In an earlier pronouncement, Samsung said that it would be reshaping the Galaxy S6 and start entirely from scratch to make up for the rather sub-par review and less than satisfactory market acceptance of the Samsung Galaxy S5. In fact, the company even termed the plan as ‘Project Zero.’
Based on the latest leaked images of the upcoming Samsung flagship smartphone however, it seems that there is hardly a ground-breaking deviation or change from the previous Galaxy S models, including the current Galaxy S5.
But since the images are not from Samsung and merely leaks, and that the company has yet to make an official announcement regarding the Samsung Galaxy S6, everything about the upcoming handset is still speculation at this time.
Rumored specifications
What remain consistent thus far are the rumored specifications and features of the Samsung Galaxy S6.
Accordingly, the device would come with either a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display (1440 x 2650-pixel). It shall have a 1080-pixel resolution and shall be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor. The device will also have 4GB of RAM.
It is also rumored that Samsung Galaxy S6 will come with an iris scanner, which would be a first in mass-sold commercial smartphone. But until Samsung confirms it, it shall remain as just that – a rumor.
