Rockstar Focusing on Grand Theft Auto Online, GTA 6 Setting Still not Decided!

Even though “GTA 6” is probably years away, no matter if it’s currently in development or not, this doesn’t stop the game’s most avid fans from discussing the different possibilities for the future of the franchise. Rumors are also quite active as always, and the most prominent ones lately have been about the setting of the new game. There are numerous possibilities for Rockstar here, from revisiting old places, through putting the game in a realistic environment in a well-known city, to creating an entirely new location exclusive to “GTA 6”.

And according to the most recent rumors, allegedly coming from insiders close to the studio, the current planning stages for the new game are quite early, and the setting hasn’t even been finalized yet. Rumors state that Rockstar are juggling ideas that include Miami, Vice City, and even Texas, with a more rural setting for “GTA 6”. That would be a bit unusual, given the strong focus on an urban theme throughout the series, as well as the fact that Rockstar already have another game that many people jokingly refer to as “GTA with horses”, but there are plenty of plausible possibilities for where the studio may decide to take the franchise.

Chicago is also an option, according to rumors, and if Rockstar decide to recreate the city in full scale, that could mean a truly massive experience in “GTA 6”. That would have been unthinkable just a decade ago, but with the advancement of modern technology, computers and consoles can now easily renders games of such a massive scale. Plus, Chicago has the perfect weather conditions for Rockstar to show off some weather effects from their new engine.

The studio will have several years to refine and improve the state of their technology anyway, so the new “GTA 6” could bring some truly interesting changes to the table in terms of both gameplay as well as eye candy. “GTA” has always been a game to rely heavily on creating a strong, consistent atmosphere that players can easily immerse themselves into and just get lost for hours on end, and if this is realized through the “eyes” of rendering technology from the next few years, it should definitely be the best game in the franchise by far.

Rockstar have also decided to give players of “GTA 5” a little surprise in response to the recent hacker attacks aimed at the PSN and Xbox networks. Various new cosmetics have been made available, in addition to a change in scenery to a snowy setting, which should make going around in one’s car quite “fun” for the next few days.
