New Asus ZenFone Allegedly Leaked, 4.5 Inch Dual-Core Android Offer!

Asus were recently rumored to be gearing up for a release that will compete against the HTC One M8 in its camera capabilities, with a dual camera design that was additionally advertised in a teaser released by the company. However, it seems that this isn’t exactly the case – fresh new rumors point in a different direction, one without a very impressive dual camera setup.

The new information is coming from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, who’ve recently leaked the alleged specifications of the device, showing it to be a rather low-end entry into the market, notably without dual cameras that take any impressive pictures. According to the specifications, the device will be somewhat unimpressive in what it offers, although it doesn’t seem to be aimed at buyers who want serious power in the first place. The screen is rumored to be 4.5 inches, with a 480×854 resolution, and the device is powered by a dual core CPU with 1 GB of RAM.

Regarding the rumored dual cameras, the spec sheet indicates a 5 MP rear camera, and a 0.3 MP one in the front, which doesn’t really strike as anything impressive. The phone will additionally have a 2100 mAh battery, which would indicate a very good battery life. Considering the low-power hardware that the device is packing, it’s not going to need any serious battery capabilities, so 2100 mAh should go a long way with those specifications.

And of course, the phone will be running Android, but with Asus’s own ZenUI. It’s not known what Android version it’s going to ship with, although if the leaked specifications are true, it might not come out with Android 5.0 Lollipop right out the door, and it’s possible that it will never even get that update. The new version of Android has been causing some trouble for users with low-end devices who’ve tried to manually flash it with the use of a custom ROM.

So far, it hasn’t been confirmed that these specifications are the ones of the new ZenFone indeed, however. Asus haven’t made any comments on the situation, although the fact that they’ve already released an official teaser for the device which showed a different style could point in the direction that the rumor isn’t true.

In any case, when CES 2015 rolls around, customers will find out what Asus are planning for next year, but it’s shaping up to be an interesting reveal in any case. Some smaller rumors have been indicating that the company might actually make more than one announcement at the event, although this doesn’t seem that plausible, given their current release plans and past trends.
