A recent alleged leak of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 shows a familiar design – it seems that Samsung are already far ahead in the design of their new device, as the unit shown in the picture didn’t even look like an early prototype. What can be seen in the photo is a yellow plastic device with a standard form factor for the Galaxy line, as well as some interesting changes. Samsung have added an aluminum body to the design, making it look remarkably more stylish, while the new paint job makes the device a bit more playful and attractive, in contrast to the somewhat “dull” design previous Galaxy devices have had.
It’s not clear how big the screen is from the photo, although it looks like it’s at least 5 inches – and rumors about the device’s alleged specifications state that it could be either 5.2 or 5.5 inches. Resolution is speculated to be 2560×1440, while the device will be powered by some pretty good hardware, including an Snapdragon 801 quad core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz.
In addition, it’s rumored to have 4 GB of RAM and a whole 160 GB of internal storage, which would make this device quite the attractive offer for buyers looking for a powerful, serious android device. It’s going to be pretty good for avid camera users too, if the rumors are true, as Samsung are reportedly putting in a 20 MP camera with some serious improvements in both its hardware as well as software.
Meanwhile, designers have been playing around with various ideas for the style of the new Galaxy S6, creating custom concept renders that explore different design choices. One of the most interesting ones is a design by Hass T, which borrows heavily from the style of the Galaxy Alpha, and adds a metal casing to the body of the phone to give it a more premium look.
The designer has admittedly taken his concept a bit farther than Samsung are likely going to go, as he has added some extravagant features like a hexagonal speaker at the bottom of the device. Overall though, it still bears the characteristic Galaxy charm, so the designer definitely seems to know how to create a concept that will look familiar enough to pass as an official one.
Until the device is officially announced, rumors and fan-made concepts are all people have, but at least it’s better than nothing. With the popularity of the Samsung Galaxy S6, there are lots of materials constantly coming out, including certain rumors that sound quite plausible, and the community itself is also really active in releasing materials like the concept described above.
