Fear the Walking Dead Season 3: Release Date and Teasers

We know the third season is coming back “this summer”, but when exactly we will get the chance to continue where we left off is still unknown, because AMC will not tell us…So, if you are eagerly waiting to find out what happens to Nick after the border gunfight, you will have to wait a bit longer. But, we do have some info about the upcoming season.

When is it coming?

Traditionally, The Walking Dead has aired its season finales in March or April, but, since March is apparently out, our guess was April. The first season premiered in August and led us into the sixth season of The Walking Dead, the second came on April 10, 2016, because the season got extended.

Since their official press release says “summer” it is safe to say the new season will come in May or even June. If it starts then, there will be time for a season comprised of 16 episodes before The Walking Dead comes back in October.

Since Fear the Walking Dead season 2 was ranked seventh among the highest rated shows in the US, AMC president Charlie Collier said that “What Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman have invented in Fear The Walking Dead is to be applauded.”

Who will be in season 3?

All of the regular cast members are coming back for Fear the Walking Dead season 3.

But, rumor is that an old cast member from Buffy the Vampire Slayer Emma Caulfield has been cast in a mystery role. We still have no idea whether she will have a recurring role, or will she be just another guest star in this zombie drama. AMC confirmed that she was cast, but they are still not revealing who she will play.

What is it about?

Okay, so we have to wait for the third season a bit more, but AMC was kind enough to give us an official synopsis: “As Fear the Walking Dead returns for season three, our families will be brought together in the vibrant and violent ecotone of the U.S.-Mexico border.

International lines done away with following the world’s end, our characters must attempt to rebuild not only society, but family as well. Madison (Kim Dickens) has reconnected with Travis (Cliff Curtis), her apocalyptic partner, but Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) has been fractured by her murder of Andres.

Madison’s son mere miles from his mother, Nick’s (Frank Dillane) first action as a leader saw Luciana (Danay Garcia) ambushed by an American militia group — the couple escaped death, but Nick no longer feels immortal.

Recovering both emotionally and physically, Strand (Colman Domingo) has his sights set on harnessing the new world’s currency, and Ofelia’s (Mercedes Mason) captivity will test her ability to survive and see if she can muster the savagery of her father.”

The executive producer, Dave Erickson is preparing us for an interesting new twist:”There’s gonna be a new prominent character, who we’re gonna meet south of the border, who is going to have an impact on Nick and Luciana, and Strand most likely.”

So in the new season, we will get a new antagonist group and led by a new female character – maybe this is where Caulfield fits in?

Small spoiler ahead

fear the walking dead season 3 release dateDanay Garcia, or as you know her from Fear the Walking Dead, Lucy, talked about what can fans expect from her character in the upcoming season 3.

After Alejandro, her former leader, was revealed as a liar, Lucy is shaken and unsure of her faith. The actress said “I’m really curious to see how [the show] is going to explore my trust and what I’m going to do about it. My whole life was built around my faith and what was told to me. When I realized that it was a lie, in spite of the fact it worked, it doesn’t take out that it was a lie. It’s a trap.”

Garcia says that since Lucy found herself in a trap at the end of season 2, as she was shot and captured by a group of vigilantes, this season should offer something more intriguing for her character. “In Season 2, I was the local,” says García. “The Americans were the foreigners. Now [in Season 3] we switch roles. I have to follow somebody else’s rules. It will be interesting. That’s something that every immigrant goes through.”

Also, we heard rumors that Fear the Walking Dead season 3 introduction webisode will feature the death of Colton – but those are unconfirmed. In the end, he might survive the knife left in his leg, right?
