Considering the fact that the mid-range smartphone market is growing increasingly price sensitive, most major smartphone manufacturers are going out of the way to pack in maximum features at a minimum budget and the first device that pops into our mind every time we think about budget smartphones is the Motorola Moto G2.
However, Motorola is not alone in this segment as the recently launched Blackberry Q5 is here to compete! So, what do the viewers think about these devices when pitched head on? Let’s find out!
Design:
The Blackberry Q5 measures 120 x 66 x 10.8 mm and boasts of curvy edges. The Moto G2, on the other hand, measures 141.5 x 70.7 x 11 mm and is curvier. Design plays a major role in the budget smartphone segment, and both Motorola and Blackberry have unique opportunities on offer.
While the Motorola Moto G2 boasts of a touch interface, the Blackberry Q5 incorporates both touch and buttons. The Blackberry is on the lighter side of things, weighing approximately 120 grams while the Motorola Moto G2 weighs close to 149 grams.
Display:
The Motorola Moto G2 boasts of a 5-inch touch screen with Multitouch whereas the Blackberry sports a 3.1-inch touch screen. The display resolutions on both devices are 720 x 1,280 and 720 x 720 respectively. However, the visual experience on the Q5 is superior to that on the Moto G2 due to the higher pixel density on the Q5 at 328 ppi, compared to the 294 ppi on the Moto G2.
Hardware:
While the Motorola Moto G2 boasts of an 8MP primary camera along with a 2MP secondary camera, the Blackberry Q5 sports a 5MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera. Both smartphones feature LED flash.
The Blackberry Q5 draws power from a 2,180 mAh Li-Ion battery, whereas the Motorola Moto G2 draws power from a 2,070 mAh Li-Ion battery. Hence, the Q5 can be used for a slightly longer period.
Both smartphones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors clocking at 1.2 GHz. However, the primary difference lay in the number of cores that are used. While the Blackberry Q5 utilizes two cores, the Moto G2 features four!
The Blackberry however packs in 2 GB of RAM as compared to the 1 GB on the Moto G2. While the Motorola Moto G2 boasts of a 16 GB built-in memory that can be expanded via external storage, the Blackberry Q5 boasts of an 8 G built-in storage. The memory can be expanded here too!
Both these devices are equally promising, depending upon the target customer base. Hence, feel free to opt for the one that fulfills your needs!
