Everybody knows that Andrew Garfield is not gay. Neither is Ryan Reynolds. Both actors played Marvel superhero roles. Garfield played Spider-Man twice, and Reynolds almost twice already as “Deadpool 2” is coming out to theaters soon.
Ryan Reynolds also donned a DC superhero persona in the movies previously as Green Lantern.
Both actors were nominated for Best Actor at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards and they were also seated together in one table. Ryan Reynolds is nominated for Best Actor for a Musical or a Comedy with Ryan Gosling. But when the award was given to Ryan Gosling, Andrew Garfield and Ryan Reynolds locked lips and that actually stole the cameras from Gosling on the stage.
It became the talk-of-the-town even weeks after and Andrew Garfield seemed to have made a kiss and tell about it during his recent guesting at Stephen Colbert’s talk show where he and the host did a smooch again on live TV.
Planning the kiss before it happened
Just as Ryan Gosling went to grab his award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy, the camera panned out and showed fellow nominee Ryan Reynolds and good friend Andrew Garfield grabbing a cheeky snog in the background, reports the Metro of UK.
Ryan Gosling naturally had no idea what was happening and didn’t even notice, but eagle-eyed viewers did and wondered what the hell was going on.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” star Andrew Garfield quite literally kiss and told what really went down by revealing on “The Graham Norton” show a few days later how the smooch came about.
He explained that he and Ryan Reynolds talked and agreed that if Reynolds wins, the latter would have to kiss him instead of his wife, which was sort of a prank on everyone. Reynolds did not win the Best Actor award but he and Garfield proceeded to implement their plan just the same.
An unforgettable moment
The kiss happened to have been caught on camera and is now regarded as a kiss that had been seen around the world. It also went on to become one of the most unforgettable moments from the 2017 Golden Globe awards.
Andrew Garfield appeared last week on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and explained yet again why he decided to give Reynolds a smooch.
He said that he just wanted Ryan Reynolds to know that he loved him no matter whether the “Deadpool” star won or lost.
Garfield said that it doesn’t matter who the winner is because it is all about how one played the game and his friend showed up. Reynolds gave his all and it did not change anything in his heart, related the “Hacksaw Ridge” actor, details E! Online.
By the looks of it, Reynolds was perfectly consoled after losing, which made Colbert intrigued by the whole notion.
Stephen Colbert then said that not everybody is comfortable seeing two men kissing but he said that he is comfortable with it.
Garfield took the hint and leaned in to lay one on Colbert’s lips. The two intimately kissed, causing the audience to scream and shout with excitement.
After the smooch, Colbert seemed to have been stunned and Garfield said the host was a very gentle lover judging from his lips and the way he kissed.
The show was not all kisses and butterflies. Andrew Garfield also spoke of his youth and hinted at his fears for the country under President Donald Trump.
Andrew stars in two recent films, “Hacksaw Ridge” and “Silence,” and both roles are about men of faith but the British star explained he was raised without a faith per se and instead was raised to be open about beliefs, so much so that as an eight-year-old boy, his hero was Mahatma Gandhi of India, and his mother, Lynn.
