Destiny DLC Being Shared in the Community by Good-Hearted Players!

Gamers are generally known for being a generous community as a whole, particularly the communities surrounding some specific games. And while “Destiny” wasn’t really known for anything special in this regard, its fans have recently managed to make their mark on the Internet, and have proved that there are lots of good people among them, willing to sacrifice a little to make others happy.

The release of the first major DLC for the game was met with mostly positive reactions, although some fans were disappointed that they can’t enjoy the new content with their friends. And now, to alleviate the pain of at least some gamers, users have been sharing copies of the DLC with their fellow players for free, right at the game’s official forums.

It all started with a post by user ERedd, who made a thread specifically aimed at users who want to try the new DLC, but can’t afford to buy it at the moment. The thread was simple – it just asked for users to write a short description of themselves, their current situation, and why they wanted the DLC so much, and from then it was only a matter of someone liking the user’s post enough to share their own free copy.

The thread is done in a “pay it forward” style, which means that anyone who’s received the DLC is encouraged to do a similar favor for another user when they have the financial ability to do that. And looking at how popular the thread has become very quickly, it seems to be a remarkable success already, and many fans have been having fun with the whole ordeal.

Meanwhile, reception to the content included in the new DLC remains strong, although some critics have been negative about the way the game’s community was split as a result of the DLC’s release. According to some, the content should have been split in a different way, allowing more players to play with each other without feeling like they’re forced to buy the DLC. A bug with the initial launch which made certain content inaccessible to some players definitely didn’t help the situation, further making some players angry.

In the end though, Bungie have been doing a great job developing new content for “Destiny”, and the DLC has been enjoying the commercial success and generally positive reviews that it deserves. Fans have also been hopeful that the studio will continue to support the game at the same quality level in the future, as there is certainly lots of potential in this title that has not yet been realized fully, but could be, with enough new content.
