A massive part of 2014 was spent wondering whether Winds of Winter would make it to the shelves. However, as the year is about to come to an end, we can be more than sure that author George R.R. Martin has no intentions of launching the book anytime soon. Latest rumors further claim that the author has suggested that the book will take its course to reach the stores.
Winds of Winter is under construction and will release in 2015, the fans can rest assured as the author has revealed numerous secrets about the probable plot, in the past. Despite numerous rumors floating around on the web, the primary details that were released by the author can be taken as the official word. Hence, we have POV releases on quite a few characters, along with specific events like the Battle of Meereen.
Two chapters each portraying the story of Barristan Selmy and Tyrion Lannister have been revealed, and viewers can read excerpts from the post on the numerous associated forums. Martin had publicly announced previously that Winds of Winter would not be ready before Christmas 2014. However, as the deadline approaches there are no reports of the release whatsoever!
This is not the first time that the writer has let the fans down, although, the fans will have to understand that the author’s job is very difficult and time-consuming process. Creation takes time and patient, the two virtues that we do not possess! Martin clarified in a Tweet that “Twelve Days of Christmas” is not a countdown to the much-anticipated book and that the fans should not keep false hopes!
Martin is not an avid social networking fan, but he clarified that these were the best means to communicate directly with the fans and hence avoid rumors and sticky situations. Martin cautioned the fans against false profiles and dubious accounts under his name, which are the primary sources of spreading rumors.
Martin recently made a public announcement disappointing the fans further and it read, “I do not want to create false hopes, but Winds of Winter will not coincide with Christmas, New Year, Valentine’s Day or Lincoln’s birthday.” Could this hint at a mid-2015 release? We are not quite sure at the moment. Fans were hoping that Martin would finish with Winds of Winter in time to prepare a script for one episode of the popular TV Series Game of Thrones. However, that seems like a distant dream for now.
