The DeploraBall is a pro-Trump celebration that was organized at the National Press Building in Washington. The event was organized from 19th to the 20th of January to celebrate the victory and inauguration of Donald Trump’s presidency. The name of the event has its source in the phrase used by Hillary Clinton during her campaign.
She had frequently used the term “basket of deplorables, ” and the term was used by the organizers GOTV Group MAGA3X. They decided to sell tickets for the event and even asked the Clarendon Ballroom to host the event.
When the Ballroom refused to host the DeploraBall, it saw a large number of threats. Finally, the DeploraBall was organized from 19th to 20th January at the National Press Building. The president of the National Press Club, Jeff Ballou went on record to state that the institution doesn’t endorse or sponsor the event being organized there.
The DeploraBall saw guests like Mike Cernovich, James O’Keefe, Peter Thiel, Roger Stone and Sheriff David Clarke, to name a few. Reports suggest that over fifty DeploraBall events were organized across the world.
During the DeploraBall, thousands of anti-Trump demonstrators protested outside the National Press Building. The event saw some instances of violence when DisruptJ20, a left group shared videos of a few people planning on sabotaging the DeploraBall.
Metro reported that Drew Carey’s son had purposely started a fire outside the building while the DeploraBall was on its way. Connor Carey spoke to Fox News and admitted to starting the fire. When asked for the reason, he said that he didn’t approve of the President.
Drew Carey and his wife were shocked to see Connor admitting to starting a fire as a mark of protest and condemned him for his act. TMZ reported that his parents aren’t happy seeing the footage and have regretted the way he spoke to the news reporter.
This wouldn’t be the first instance of protest against the new government in the US. There has been a string of events where people have come in hordes to protest Donald Trump’s win.
CNN went a little too far and aired a series talking about the possibility of an assassination of Donald Trump and Mike Pence. The segment called Order of Succession talked of the possibility of someone from the Obama government becoming the appointee in the Oval Office in case President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were shot dead.
The Washington Free Beacon went ahead and covered the story and even described events which saw a huge uproar. They explored options that the Congress might be able to take if Trump and Pence were shot before or during the inauguration.
CCN took the ABC drama Designated Survivor that deals with an impending terror attack on the Capitol where the new president was sworn in.
It is obvious that Trump supporters were furious about the incident and they attacked the news broadcasting channel. Viewers slammed the channel for spreading violence and said that they were fueling anti-Trump sentiments.
According to Inquisitr, Trump supporters even called CNN, the Clinton News Network since it showed support to Hillary Clinton’s nomination for President. CNN also faced a backlash on the social media where it was criticized for airing such views a day before the inauguration.
CNN came out to make it clear that they were simply offering an alternative and that the 1947 Presidential Succession Act took care of how the power trickled down in the political system. No matter what happens, America will not be left in an anarchical situation.
