Disney hasn’t made any official announcement about a Frozen 2 film in development, but rumors suggest that a new sequel is heading our way. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf will return in a sequel that will take a darker turn compared to its predecessor.
The anticipation and excitement are running high for a sequel to Disney’s highly successful and critically acclaimed film, ‘Frozen’. It was awarded the Academy Award for being the Best Animated Feature. In the absence of any news regarding Frozen 2, a lot of rumors and speculations are currently circulating online about the plot, cast and crew of this possible release.
Rumors suggest that all the major characters from the previous movie will surely return, especially sisters Anna and Elsa, voiced by Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell. We should also see Olaf, voiced by Josh Gad along with Kristoff, who was voiced by Jonathan Groff. Although, there is no official news if the previous voice actors will come back for the second movie.
Coming to the plot, a lot of reports from Movie Pilot, Ecumenical News, ENstarz and many more have speculated a darker storyline for this movie. It will be based on the original ‘Snow Queen’ story written long ago by Hans Christian Andersen. The original story by Hans is considered to be one of the most popular and highly-acclaimed fairy tales of all times. It tells us the story of an evil troll which had a magic mirror that distorted the reflection of anyone who stood in front of it. It had the malevolent power to make everyone see bad and ugly things.
One day, this mirror shattered into innumerable pieces, which scattered the grains that got into people’s eyes. Due to this, the people saw only the despicable and ugly things in the world. The Snow Queen in story spirits away a boy known as Kai and then makes him a prisoner. He was given the choice to solve the puzzle in which case he would be released.
Or else, he would have to stay in her Palace forever. Kai finally gets rescued by his true love, Gerda, who outsmarts the Snow Queen and frees Kai. In a film made for the younger crowd, a through adaptation of the original story would be rather intense and gritty. However, Movie Pilot suggests that with potential and careful planning, Disney could turn into a success.
In the meantime, Idina Menzel, who voiced Anna in Frozen, stopped by The View on ABC and talked about rumors regarding the possible upcoming Frozen 2. According to her, a sequel is sure to come considering the success of its predecessor.
