Najee Harris, five-star running back was beaten by Akers. He also beat four-star quarterback Tate Martell, five-star defensive end Jaelan Phillips, four-star defensive back Richard LeCounte III, along with four-star running back Eno Benjamin.

He has joined Alenzo Booker as the only other player to have won this award. He won the award back in 2002. The Seminoles have signed Akers as the highest offensive recruit since overall, Bookers managed to finish in rank 2. By the 247Sports Composite, Akers has been ranked at No.4 overall.

Meanwhile, the 5 foot 11, weighing at 213 pounds, record talent out of Mississippi committed Tuesday night to Florida state instead of Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss and Ohio State. During the recent months, the onetime Alabama commitment was seen to favor Ohio State and Tennessee and Seminoles were always on the top of his list.

During the summer, his unofficial visit to Florida and then an official visit on 28th October served as a major turning point for Seminoles.

With Akers now committed to the Seminoles, this marks off an awesome couple of weeks for Jimbo Fisher, their coach, and his staff, who were on the recruiting trail. The run started with Adonis Thomas, ESPN Junior College 50 outside linebacker and it was followed by the flip of Tre’ McKitty from Oregon and also the announcement of Joshua Kaindoh as ESPN 300 No. 16 on Friday.

Akers will enroll in the month of January and he is the third ESPN 300 running back who has been committed to Florida. He has joined downhill runner Zaquandre White and the highly versatile Khalan Laborn. Earlier, Florida State enjoyed Recruiting Nation’s No. 12 rank before the verbal commitment from Akers.

The team has several new high ranking targets that are left on the board and they are marching towards a ninth straight top 10 class of recruiting. The targets that remain are Marvin Wilson, the defensive tackle, Dalyn Wade-Perry, the ESPN 300 defensive tackle, Levi Jones, the ESPN 300 Linebacker and Henry Rugs III, the ESPN 300 Receiver.

Cam Akers to Florida State

Akers remains one of the most productive players out of high school and further has a state’s history, with 78 touchdowns and 8,140 yards. This comes with more 70 touchdowns and 5000 yards in passing, all of this undertaken in his four seasons for Clinton High.

From the looks of it, when it comes selecting from the South, FSU is probably the only school that can go toe to toe with the SEC, regarding great talent. However, there are many other High School players within the SEC footprint and they didn’t choose a SEC school and also no Florida State.
