The first half of Season 7 of “The Walking Dead” may have been a depressing time for Rick Grimes and his horde after being completely broken by Negan and his Savior both physically, mentally, and emotionally.
But the midseason finale of the show has shown already that the depression has reached its lowest ebb and viewers expect that Rick Grimes and company will start fighting back.
After seeing Aaron being beaten black and blue and Spencer having his guts spilled out next to a pool table, Rick seems to have reached a point that it is time to fight back or lose everything.
It can be recalled that in the premiere episode of Season 7 of the AMC’s hit zombie series, viewers saw Negan mercilessly killing two major characters – Abraham and Glenn.
The death of Glenn was, in fact, one of the most gruesome moments of the TV series and some are saying that it was just too much violence for the small screen.
Rick was also horrified at what happened but he was not able to do anything since they were all at the mercy of Negan.
The feeling was worst for Maggie, as she is the wife of Glenn, and seeing the love of her life getting brutally killed is just too much for her considering that she was also pregnant.
Glenn, as fans of the TV series know, is a fan-favorite character. His epic death escape scene in Season 6 made fans believe that he is not going to be the victim of Negan.
Last season, Glenn managed to figure out a way to rescue himself by hiding under the garbage canister and waited for hours until the walkers were gone.
It was surprising that the TV series held on to Glenn’s dear life early in Season 6 only to got him killed at the start of Season 7.
Meanwhile, as seen during the midseason finale episode, Rick had an emotional comeback and has already gathered his group to prepare to counter-attack.
Apparently, Rick realized that the only way to end Negan’s crooked rule is to fight back and he will work on uniting the other colonies so that they would stand a good chance in defeating Negan and his Saviors.
Rick’s group will try to convince King Ezekiel of The Kingdom for a team up to go against Negan and his army. Hence, it simply means that viewers will have a lot to look forward to when the show returns.
In particular, with the new outlook of Rick Grimes who seems tougher and more sturdy, it looks like Negan is in for a fight of his life.
Rick Grimes to fight back against Negan
As the second half of the season starts to air next month, Andrew Lincoln, who plays the role of Rick Grimes, could not hide his excitement as the remaining episodes would be quite impressive, citing that the fight during the Season 7 finale would be the best that the show has ever had.
Lincoln admittedly understood the need for Negan to push Rick down to realize and learn from his mistakes and prepare him for the fight-back of his life, far better than he and his group did against the Governor in Season 3.
The actor also said that the next eight episodes will be much more in their group’s favor as Rick will get the justice he would be seeking for against Negan and his Saviors.
He also revealed that Rick will be bolder, after realizing the kind of freedom that they once enjoyed but got lost when they were beaten by Negan. He said that it is one of the high points of Rick in the TV series.
Lincoln disclosed that his band of survivors has already agreed to a common purpose and that fans should watch out for the Season 7 finale. He even made a punch in the air to express his excitement for the gripping Season 7 finale.
A major character is set to die
There are also rumors going around on the internet that the show will likely have another major character that will die as the current seventh season draws to a close, although such remain as speculation at this time.
When Season 7 returns, Rick Grimes is rumored to finally meet King Ezekiel and come to an agreement to become an ally to take revenge against Negan and the Saviors.
According to sources, a gruesome death can be expected for Negan if just in case Rick is able to convince King Ezekiel to cooperate with his group. It is possible that Shiva, the tiger, may be involved in such scenario, the rumors say.
