It has been more than seven years since the first “Avatar” movie was released to theaters that did not only offer viewers superb adventures but also performed well at the box office all the way to becoming the highest-grossing movie of all time.
Even though it has been announced already that there will be four new “Avatar” sequels, the second sequel is what draws the most excitement since it is bound to come out first.
According to Sigourney Weaver, who played the role as Dr. Grace Augustine in the first “Avatar” film, the long time needed to release “Avatar 2” was important because James Cameron wants to make sure that the movie is perfect.
So while there is already a December 2018 playdate, it is merely a target and is just tentative according to the actress. She explained that James Cameron is still trying to develop a kind of technology that will suit the movie because he wants the fans to be in great awe once “Avatar 2” hits the theaters.
She even revealed that James Cameron is in the middle of experimenting with something although she is not sure if such will eventually be used in the final product.
It seems clear that James Cameron is taking a lot more time to do what he thinks is best for “Avatar 2.”
Apart from “Avatar,” it can also be remembered that James Cameron was also the creator of the historically successful films such as “The Abyss,” “The Terminator” series, the “Aliens” series where Sigourney Weaver played the main role, and “Titanic “which made Leonardo De Carpio and Kate Winslet popular for their superb chemistry in portraying Jack and Rose, respectively.
There are rumors suggesting that the sequel will start to tease fans by the end of this year which means it could probably be fully released in 2018 as planned.
As per Sigourney Weaver, since there will be four sequels, all of them will be shot simultaneously.
Surely, there will be intervals to serve as gaps between each sequel given that it entails heavy post-production processes.
However, there are already speculations saying that 20th Century Fox is set to release a movie on December 21, 2018, which is yet to be confirmed.
An anonymous film was put on schedule by Lightstorm Entertainment on the particular date and speculations were saying that it might be “Avatar 2.”
If indeed it is true, it is safe to assume that when “Avatar 2” starts to hit theaters in December 2018, the next three sequels will also follow their previously reported release dates. “Avatar 3” is set for a December 2020 release date, “Avatar 4” in December 2022, and “Avatar 5” in December 2023.
Initially, Sigourney Weaver expressed doubt about the supposed release date because she knows how James Cameron works.
According to reports, a test footage which has never been seen in the previous film is proof that James Cameron and his production team is all set to release a teaser of the film soon.
Weaver is confident enough to explain her thoughts about the film since she already read the scripts of the “Avatar” sequels.
She assured that the scope of the four sequels will surely be amazing since the first film has already established the family, relationships, and how the world conspires to set it all up for each character involved.
While no one knows exactly how James Cameron wants to visualize it, critics are sure that the sequels will be more engaging and appealing, just like, or perhaps even better than the first film.
If the first film had dazzling visual effects, it is almost sure that the sequels will have more considering the technological advancements made over the last seven years.
Pandora as the new attraction in Disney’s Theme Park
While fans are busy speculating and guessing about the possible plotline of “Avatar 2,” there has been an impressive news that reached “Avatar” fans recently.
Accordingly, Disney World Resort will be adding a new attraction to its Theme Park. It will be called “The Pandora: The World of Avatar” which has been announced as early as 2015 and is now set to open in the summer of this year.
Disney has already uploaded on its YouTube channel a two-minute video which previews the Na’vi and teases the fans of the film about the upcoming attraction in its theme park.
