The major issue of broken trust will soon be highlighted as the Season 2 of the American crime drama series “Shades of Blue” officially starts to air on NBC on March 5, 2017.
While the first season left an unsatisfying end on the characters involved as what most average reviews say, it is still expected that the upcoming season will justify a more engaging storyline along with subplot twists.
NBC had initially announced that “Shades of Blue” Season 2, which currently airs every Thursday 10 pm, will be moved to the post-football NBC Sunday lineup.
The network is likely looking for a more established TV crime series in which the series will also be paired up with “Chicago Justice” and perhaps generate more interest from viewers.
While both “Shades of Blue” and “Chicago Justice” are of similar genre, the back-to-back airing will help shore up the audience mindset particularly for the Jennifer Lopez-starrer which has yet to get its bearings compared to the more established fanbase of “Chicago Justice,” as the second spinoff of “Chicago Fire.”
But it would still be up to “Shades of Blue” and its creators and director on how best to present the TV series without being redundant and somewhat repetitions from the same type of show not only in NBC but in other networks as well.
Talking about the upcoming story of the season 2 of the series, sources claim that it will be packed with a lot of issues mainly focusing on corruption, despair, breaking the law, and inevitable broken trust of each of the character involved.
Following the Season 1 finale, it seems clear that the main storyline of Season 2 of “Shades of Blue” is on the broken trust between Harlee Santos, played by Jennifer Lopez, and Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, played by veteran actor Ray Liotta, of the 64th Precinct of the New York Police Department.
In Season 1, the closeness and special bond between Wozniak and Santos have been shown in a father-daughter kind of way. However, because Harlee was forced to work with the FBI to prove the corruption of Wozniak and his team, she had no choice but to give up her team leader in the end. She was also threatened by the FBI that if she did not cooperate with them, they will throw her in jail.
More than fearful of being incarcerated, Harlee is worried about what the future will hold for her 17-year-old daughter if she goes to jail.
As a result, Harlee had to struggle to toe the line between loyalty, honor, and betrayal to keep everything secret in order to protect her daughter and ensure that she gets a good future.
But the time has come to make Harlee deal with the consequences of her betrayal of Wozniak.
In the latest teaser of “Shades of Blue” Season 2 released recently, it was shown that Matt Wozniak is determined to shame the mole in his department for the embarrassment that the investigation caused him.. During the Season 1 finale, Harlee admitted to Wozniak that she is the mole in his team.
Viewers will soon be able to see Harlee’s despair and frustration to escape from Wozniak’s anger and vengeance as a result of his broken trust.
Whether Harlee would be able to escape the wrath of Wozniak and how she deals with it while staying with the NYPD would be an interesting subplot of “Shades of Blue” Season 2. The conflict further gets more exciting as the life of her daughter Cristina, played by Sarah Jeffrey, might also be at stake.
It seems clear that Matt Wozniak already knows the truth and it would be interesting to find out if he would also come to realize why Harlee agreed to cooperate with the FBI. Because if he figures it out, he would surely understand where Harlee is coming from.
It was also seen in the promo that Wozniak confronts Harlee as he points out a gun and threatens to kill her if she would still pretend to be part of his team instead of telling the whole truth.
Wozniak is obviously reeling upon knowing of Harlee’s betrayal. It is expected that it will set the stage for a more exciting Season 2 of “Shades of Blue” along with a few more chaotic twists.
