If fantasy and fiction are something that you are obsessed with, then the not so mainstream concept of having a girl as a Superhero is something that you must be familiar with. Yes, I am talking about the American television series, Supergirl. The first season of the show which was released back on October 26, 2015, has released the second season of the show.
Viewers tend to be set on concentrating just on the role of the pivotal character, Kara Denvers but this specific season is set to be focusing more on her sister’s character, Alex. Anyone who has been up-to-date with the ongoing episodes of the show must see her valiantly fighting the aliens alongside her sister. But this season is set to revolve more around the character’s personal life than the actual crime scenes.
The episodes have revealed how Alex has taken a liking to the extraterrestrial investigator Maggie Sawyer as more than a friend and later came out to her family and friends as gay. But well, not everything goes smoothly, and she faced rejection from Sawyer who claimed that she was not into “newbies.”
While the audience was just about ready to curse out the writers with the lack of empathy for Maggie’s character, they soon fixed it. The later episodes showed Alex being devastated after being turned down but was later surprised when Maggie herself came down to her apartment. She later apologized for the crude remarks and asked her out. The next question is for how long it’s going to be rainbows and butterflies for the new couple?
The executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg was asked the same questions in several interviews following the airing of the episodes. He clarified that the writers are set on making the relationship of Alex and Maggie grow emotionally and make it stronger and deeper. He also said that they don’t intend on brushing it to the side and are going to keep it going even when there might be some ups and downs in the relationship.
Viewers who have seen the first season of the series must be feeling left out in this season due to the absence of two main characters of the show. Yes, you got it right; I am talking about the characters of Cat Grant and Peter Facinelli. The season 2 of the show has already finished the first half of the season, and there are still no appearances from the two characters from the first season.
While it was priorly confirmed by the Ally McBeal actress about her inconsistent appearances in the upcoming seasons due to her prior engagements in CBS, the absence of Peter Facinelli is still a question. The representatives for the show have clarified and said that Flockhart is set to make an appearance in a spring episode of the show, but there has been no news for the Facinelli fans who are awaiting his presence.
Keeping aside all of it, the audience has been complaining about the lack of good villains in the show which is one of the most important parts of the show. They have pointed out that there is no possible comparison between the characters of Reverse-Flash or Malcolm Merlyn and that they would like to see more characters like that.
The season 2 is set to return with an episode titled as “Supergirl Lives” which is set to see the clashes between the City’s superhero against the alien world. The released trailer that everyone must have seen showed glimpses of a possible comeback of Roulette and the audience might expect some not-so-good intentions in the 2017 episodes.
