A few months ago, the rumor mills were swirling wildly about the possible reunion on the screen of former lovers Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens for the already confirmed “High School Musical 4” from Disney Pictures.
In fact, the speculations then were saying that their team-up might rekindle their past romance, which actually started with their pairing together during the first “High School Musical” movie.
The rumors started to spark when Zan Efron posted a photo of him being reunited with two of the casts from the original movie, Corbin Bleu, who played Chad Danforth, and Lucas Grabeel, who played Ryan Evans.
It was, later on, learned that they reunited to support Corbin Bleu in his latest project with Broadway Musical’s “Holiday Inn,” reports News Everyday.
As of late, however, the rumors are saying that Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and the rest of the original cast members might not be in “High School Musical 4” after all.
There are reports saying that Taylor Swift will take on the role of Vanessa Hudgens although it seems a little way off to most critics. Some even think that the supposed inclusion of the “Shake It Off” singer to the “High School Musical 4” rumor mills may have something to do with the fact that she and Zac Efron are said to be dating at the moment.
There are also rumors saying that executives of the movie have made a casting call for individuals who would want to be members of the Wildcats and Knights.
Some critics believe that “High School Musical” is the signature movie franchise of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens and it would be absurd filming “High School Musical 4” without them reprising their classic and almost iconic Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez roles in it.
A split in the offing?
There are also reports claiming that Efron and Hudgens have already started filming “High School Musical 4” and that sparks started flying all over again.
As a result, it has reportedly caused a rift in the current romantic relationship of Vanessa Hudgens and boyfriend Austin Butler, reports Enstars.
Prior to the decision of Vanessa Hudgens to reprise her role of Gabriella Montez in “High School Musical 4,” there were already rumors claiming that her relationship with Austin Butler is going through a rough patch.
With Hudgens’ decision to accept the role in the movie, Butler has become more insecure because he knows that working with Efron again might result in their breakup.
There are also reports saying that Butler’s insecurity is so high that he actually prevents Hudgens from talking to Efron off-screen.
Vanessa is not happy with the way Austin is taking the whole thing and has reportedly demanded some space from her boyfriend as she wants to focus on her career.
However, all these are mere speculations at this time as there is no confirmation or denial being made by either Austin Butler or Vanessa Hudgens.
Too hot to handle
There are even rumors saying that the split of Butler and Hudgens has already happened because the former is saying that the rekindling of romance between Vanessa and Zac on-screen is just too hot to handle for him.
Some critics, however, opine that the supposed breakup of Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens is just meant to hype the upcoming Disney movie because the pair would simply not throw away their more than five-year relationship by a mere movie that is not even as steamy as “Fifty Shades of Grey” or its sequels.
They believe that the jealousy rumors are a bit misplaced at this time considering that production for “High School Musical 4” has yet to begin.
In fact, just in August, Vanessa Hudgens was quoted to have said in an interview that she was so lucky to have Austin Butler for her boyfriend since she has never witnessed someone who works harder on his craft and well being more than Austin does.
That’s in addition to the fact that Zac and Vanessa may no longer be the big stars of the movie but would most likely play supporting roles to a possible new high school pairing to keep the story interesting.
