The Apple iPad Pro marked its first year in the market last month and the American tech giant did not launch a refresh.
Come March next year, the Apple iPad Pro 9.7in will also mark its first year in the market and there are no reports that the Cupertino-based tech company would also be ushering a second iteration of the tablet around that time.
However, the rumors are rife that the American tech giant would likely launch the Apple iPad Air 3 in March 2017 but the device is going to be the last for the iPad Air models. It would be the iPad Pro models the rest of the way after the launch of the final iPad Air, the speculations say.
The rumors have been fairly consistent in saying that the iPad Air 3 shall have a 9.7-inch screen just like its predecessor models but it will have some new features including the fingerprint scanner, notes the University Herald.
The same processor as the iPhone 7
The iPad Air 3 shall reportedly have a 12-MP camera, an improved Bluetooth app, and 4GB of RAM. It shall also come in three internal storage variants of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The tablet is expected to have similar specs with the iPhone 7 because it will also be powered by the A10 processor.
The speculations are also saying that the Apple iPad Air 3 shall come out in March along with the iPad Pro 2 and the iPad mini 5. However, those who are familiar with the market know that it is not advisable for Apple to launch the iPad Air 3 and the iPad Pro 2 at the same time because one would certainly eat up on the other’s market.
The iPad mini 5 could still be launch since it is a smaller version of the iPad Air 3. With that being said, it seems clear that these rumors are mere speculations at this time and should be taken with a fine grain of salt.
There are also reports saying that the iPad Air 3 shall be housed in a 7000-series aluminum body and shall feature a thinner design compared to its predecessor, the iPad Air 2.
It shall also feature a 4K resolution and shall be both waterproof and dustproof, notes Mobile & Apps.
A foldable iPad?
It shall also include compatibility with the Apple Pencil technology, foldable technology, as well as smart connector for a smart keyboard. In fact, there are rumors claiming that Apple is seriously working on a foldable iPad. Whether it would be in the iPad Air 3 or the subsequent variants of the iPad Pro, that remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, with the excellent features and top-of-the-line capabilities of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro launched in November last year, it really made it tough for the American tech giant to come up with a next iteration to the device within a year’s time.
Sometime in March this year, Apple also launched the iPad Pro 9.7in, which is basically a smaller version of the iPad Pro. It seems unlikely for the Cupertino-based tech company to launch the second iteration of the iPad Pro 9.7in in March too, based on recent reports.
However, what seems imminent, as far as rumors go, is that Apple might be launching the latest version of its iPad Air, to be officially called as the iPad Air 3.
Reports have it that Apple is now working on releasing the new iPad Air 3 in March 2017 which would have groundbreaking features compared to the iPad Air 2, when it was launched in October 2015.
The same reports are also saying that the Apple iPad Air 3 is expected to look sleeker and shall come with a better feel because it would be thinner compared to the iPad Air 2.
In addition, the upcoming flagship tablet of Apple shall hit the market with amazing features and specifications including a new Apple Pencil that will surely give the iPad Air 3 an edge over its competitors.
