‘Rick and Morty’ Co-Creator Dan Harmon Lashes at Trolls for Demanding that Season 3 Be Aired This Month

The co-creator of the adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” on Adult Swim, Dan Harmon, has lashed out on internet trolls and critics for demanding that the third season of the popular show be aired this month.

It has been previously reported that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 shall be airing this month or before the end of 2016.

So when December set in and there was still no sight of the TV series on Adult Swim, trolls started claiming that fans are getting angry over the non-release of the third season of “Rick and Morty.”

That pushed Dan Harmon to go on an angry Twitter rant beginning in the first week of December and some critics are saying that his posts were very much like the sarcastic Rick character in the TV series.

Co-creator Justin Roiland is often regarded by critics and fans as someone who makes social media posts very much like the naïve Morty in the TV series. Justin Roiland lends his voice for both Rick and Morty in the animated TV series.

A sarcastic tweet

On December 11, Dan Harmon posted on Twitter saying that people should really be telling him to get back to work when he is not tweeting because that means that he was probably just having a drink, details Citizen Oracle.

That was just one of the few other tweets he posted meant to lash and shut the trolls down for having the gall to demand from him that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 be aired this month.

He said also posted on Twitter an ideal list of when people can tell him what to do and that he enumerated it as ‘never’ and also the year 1992 when he was the age of the supposedly one or a few trolls.

Harmon also added that people can only tell him what to do if they are paying him or is doing something he really respects but otherwise, he would not budge.

On the part of Roiland, he does not want to be harassed as much as Harmon does so he does not bother with the trolls at all just as Morty would not truly want the burden of being Grandpa Rick, notes Inverse.

Possible release date for the TV series

There are also reports saying that the possible release date for “Rick and Morty” Season 3 is going to be March this year, which was consistent with the statement of Mr. Poopybutthole back in the Season 2 finale.

Mr. Poopybutthole said then that the next season of “Rick and Morty” shall happen within a year and a half’s time. That was how March 2017 came out to be.

The March 2017 release date for “Rick and Morty” Season 3 was eased out of the picture when reports started coming out early this year that the TV series could come out ahead of March 2017 and possibly before the end of 2016.

Two weeks before December set in, an official statement or announcement has yet to come from co-showrunners Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland regarding “Rick and Morty” Season 3.

Subsequently, it spawned speculations that “Rick and Morty” Season 3 might not make it in time for December so it is likely to come out on Adult Swim early next year instead.

The last indirect but otherwise unofficial statement from Dan Harmon was when he said recently that they are working as fast as they can to finish up, which may have meant that a December 2016 release date for “Rick and Morty” Season 3 seems a bit of a stretch.

It has been reported a few months ago that writing and animation works for “Rick and Morty” Season 3 has already been completed and the show was just waiting for the green light from its Canadian studio.

It was writer Erica Rosbe who made the disclosure during a ‘Chicks Who Write’ podcast recently.
